I can agree Super Double Dragon was missing cutscenes and a detailed ending. You can actually download a fan made version of this game and a team worked hard to revamp this game and gave us a true Double Dragon experience. You can download it for free and experience it for yourself. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

I got my SNES for Christmas of 1992, along with Super Double Dragon. It was actually the first game my brother and I played on it once it was set up, so I have strong nostalgia for it. It's also rye first SNES game I beat as well. Managed to get through it towards the end of my Christmas break.

I purchased this game at a thrift store for $10 about 8 years ago. I really wasn't expecting much; I was surprised as to how good this game actually was. Perhaps the best $10 dollar SNES game I have ever purchased.

Super Double Dragon actually had a lot of depth in its mechanics. You could parry and catch punches, block, power up your meter and do new moves when it was 50% and go into a kind of overdrive state when you were at max. I think the game was great and honestly did a lot of cool stuff with the series. Best beat em up on SNES is still probably Final Fight, but I'd give Super Double Dragon a top 3 spot.

I'm in the SDD being the best in the series camp. I prefer it over to Gaiden even. it did more to the genre by adding the block/counter button. it made combat interesting and more dynamic beyond the traditional 🤜🤜kick with occasional grab. variety was key, and no other game has done it since.😢

I think my buddy and I came around on this game back then because with all the locally owned video stores, you can only rent the same stuff so many times before you want to try something else and neither of us had thought about this series since the second one so it was us looking for something to rent for a sleepover and we were like okay whatever, let's get Super Double Dragon. We were surprised it was as good as it was and rented it several more times afterward.

Super Double Dragon is my favorite game throughout the series. I love the sprites, music and the voice that Billy and Jimmy made when they finish off an enemy. Although the gameplay was slow i still like it as it was unique. Wished we got a sequel to improve on it. The fan made Ultimate Super Double Dragon is so sick

The only thing that bothers me about this game is the fact that when you're punching there's zero buffer for the input and because of that you have to either be very fast pressing the punch button or you have to master the rhythm because if you don't, then your punch sequence will be very delayed in between attacks allowing enemies to do their thing.

Can't believe I've never played this version. Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons's mechanics are by far the most recent superior. Double Dragon Revive feels like a street fighter 6 world tour clone. Will have to judge how that comes out. Very hopeful to see how the brothers play in the new DLC coming out in River City Girls 2. As a child I had a soft spot for double dragon iii: the sacred stones.

Fun with 2 players and it has surprisingly good precision and many moves. Only thing that frustrated me was the slowdowns that affected the inputs. This was in street fighter as well but it never ruined your timing or inputs like in this game

Super DD was great. DD3 was my other favorite. This WAS at a time when most games weren't on CD and DVD. For all we know there were technical reasons and deadlines.

Super Double Dragon is very good. I enjoyed my last play of it....got destroyed after going outside after being inside in level 2 or 3 and that onslaught of enemies gave it to me pretty good...but I really enjoyed it...I hope to beat it one day.

I only liked Super Double Dragon back in the day but it disappointed me. It felt rushed. Then years later I found out that the fighting game genre was just starting to blow up everywhere so Technos knew their game would stand a chance so they rushed it out to the U.S first.

Every single Double Dragon game sucks. Take away the nostalgia factor and you're left with nothing but very badly aged crap. Neon and Gaiden? Overhyped junk. No one would bother with those if they were named any other way. Ironically, the only good DD game is an unofficial one: Rage of the Dragons. And it's not even a beat-em-up but one-on-one fighter.

I'd have to say I was fairly disappointed with SDD, after being hyped from seeing screenshots in an EGM issue. The characters were small and mediocre in design, the gameplay was sluggish, the moveset was pretty standard and the stages/music weren't that interesting. Not to mention this game was released in 1992, which is 3 years after Final Fight (The very game that became the blueprint for future beat'em ups.)🤷‍♂️

It was crap, and that's why it failed. Double Dragon 1 was the paragon of the entire genre and innovated in every way. By the time Super DD came around, there were thousands of beat em ups and this one added NOTHING NEW. Tiny little characters compared to Final Fight, slow pace, boring enemies, boring stages, boring music, no new gameplay ideas. What do people see in it?

I hate retro games with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. The overly pixelated graphics always feel like a copout and its doubly so when they make it super retro or cartoony. The games we love like double dragon were, maybe not serious, but far more serious than the "throwback" modern takes and only looked like they did because thats the best they could do so copying that in 2024 is just lazy. I just want a more serious DD with modern graphics and move sets and its sad that this game still looks better than the retro games trying to emulate it..

Super DD was ok. The combat was too floaty. They needed to speed it up a bit. There are super DD mods that speed up the gameplay and it plays way better than the original look up the KZbin vids they are pretty good. DD gaiden is also an excellent DD game but the campaign is short
