Thank you for this video. This was my favorite after school surprise that my grandmother made for me. I was a picky eater and terribly underweight and you know what a tragedy that is in a Puerto Rican home. When she passed I so regretted never learning how to make all the unbelievable dishes she used to make. Slowly, I have worked on getting different recipes from whoever I can and finally you showed me how she used to make them. Thank you again.

Oh no!!! I'm sorry that your allergic, my mom has become allergic to so many things like tomato and mango and the list goes on. But we've definitely have adjusted the cooking a little differently for her. And yes to the Avocado I don't think I showed it in the video but it was definitely present.

hey love there's instructions on my website yaritzabetancourt.com/guanimes-con-bacalao/ There're definitely a million ways to make Guanimes con Bacalo. I've never seen it done with parchment paper but we've used alumni foil or plantain leaves. But you def can cook them naked like did in the video a lot easier. 😄

Yeah I know there's a lot of different ways to make them. I think this is probably the easiest version. My mom has made it in a variety of ways too. With leche de coco, wrapped hoja de platano.... how do you make them?

We do it a little different in Ponce the guanimes we call them guanimos and they are not that ling and skinny, we also add harina de maiz en algunos si los desean, el bacalao lo ponemos en agua caliente y le sacamos bastante la sal si es guisado le ponemos salsa
@YaritzaBetancourt3 жыл бұрын
Yup! I explained in the description that you have to boil the salt out of the bacalao beforehand. Guisao con salsa is delicious as well but my mom is allergic to salsa now so we couldn't do it like that. Also I see a lot of people saying they call it guanimos. I didn't know that! My family is from Patillas and Arroyo so I definitely learned something new. Thank you
@anayvettlebron98393 жыл бұрын
Definitely not how make it..but still it looks good. Only complaint I've have.. Give more detail process of how to prepare the meals.. add bacalao in water if salted..also don't touch or play with your hair around food...my Mom would freak out..lol
@YaritzaBetancourt3 жыл бұрын
lol I noticed that after and I was like "oh shit why am I touching my hair?!!!" luckily nobody ended up with hair in their food 😅 But I agree thank you for the constructive criticism. I did try to add more detailed information in the description box. But I will get better.

So, was that dry bacalao? Soaked for days? Or, fresh? In Perú, we use dried bacalao in a tomato sauce and it is delicious. I would like to make the dumplings with a different shape. I see you can make them like tamales, which would be aesthetically more pleasing. I see that other people make them thicker and shorter and those look good too. You can make the dumplings look like gnocchi. 👍I realize that I love dumplings, so I will try this recipe! Tell me what is in your sofrito. We would call the onions, cilantro and garlic sofrito so that is why I am curious. What is your husband's ethnicity? I love that he is so appreciative. My husband is too! He loves Peruvian food. 💘
