Super Fast Fat Quarter Friendly Quilt Pattern & Tutorial - Garden Plot

In this Stashin' with Stephanie video I show you how to use strip piecing to make a fat quarter friendly quilt FAST!
Garden Plot is a great quilt to show off fabric prints that are so lovely you just don't want to cut them up. Featuring large pieces, you can see big sections of the design and show off the motifs you love.
The pattern for this quilt is available in crib, lap, twin (pictured) and king.

Hi Stephanie, I am going to be making this quilt and I am not going to be using a directional fabric for my sashing should I still cut the sashing strips across the length of fabric? Thanks so much!!

You might as well. Then you don’t have to piece them.

I’m new to quilting and am wanting to make this quilt in a twin size, I will be sewing this on my home machine, how do you suggest me quilting it? I have only quilted in the ditch. I haven’t done any other quilting. Thanks!!

I just did straight line quilting in the stripes. I quilted half an inch above the seam line, and then every inch after that so that there were three lines of quilting in each row. It was easy and turned out great. You could do the same on your home sewing machine. Check out some of the close up photos to see it.

It actually is completely different. That one uses charm packs and layer cakes and this one uses fat quarters, so it has more variation in block sizes.

It is just the standard extension table that came with my machine, but you can order ones to custom fit your machine too.

For that pattern, you need the Alison Glass Road Trip fat quarter bundle. Then pick a yard for backing and you are good to go. Both are available.

Stepanie I notice the cyst on your left wrist, please don't go to the doctor and have them operate on it. I had a cyst on my middle finger 10 years ago and made a mistake of having a doctor operate and got staff infection.They had a hard time stopping the infiction and were going to cut off my left hand. Luckily God was watching out for me and the antibotic started working and then they were going to cut off that finger, but they added another antibotic and that was saved too.I wound up with a stiff joint and can't bend the first one. I love to sew and it does get in the way at times. There is alternative ways of taking care of it. I like quilt you made.This is my 1st time watching you and I will be watching again

Thank you for sharing, I am glad everything turned out OK for you and your hand was saved. But I think it may have just been a camera angle that made my bone look larger that it is.
