This is a top lesson and I keep coming back to it to learn a bit more. Richie is a master of chromatic fills and he does it so elegantly. You have done a great job of working it out Darryl and I think the people who are giving the thumbs down just can’t do it instantly and they are not good enough mentally. You need time and patience to practice this stuff, it’s all part of being a musician. Keep going, you do a great job. 👍🤘🎸🌍✌️

Finally, I was always looking forward to any quality Richie Kotzen lessons! One question though, I'd like to give this a try, but by using a pick? Would this be physically possible or there are licks/parts that can't be played with a pick?
@DarrylSyms6 жыл бұрын
🙌🙂 A pick works totally fine, no worries at all. In fact it would probably be easier for the majority. Finger picking at this speed is a challenge only some may want to discipline!
@billtrantos196 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the response! I'll to work around it by using a pick, hope it sounds good!

Thanks for this!!! I've yet to try to learn this. I'm worried with tap harmonic since Richie's using a 22 fret guitar. Ill try if the pickup can be hit though. The solo sounds easier because its melodic unlike this intro which you really nailed. Kudos and more power!!

does the normal fingerstyle approach ( first three strings with the thumb and the last three with the next three fingers) work to play stuff like this? or are there different ways of applying fingerstyle technique to electric guitar? if so is there a good resource to get an introduction?

Not at all. This is not finger style, this is finger picking. Continuous alternating between the thumb and finger 👍

Great job Darryl ! Not sure, but in some parts seems that Richie is using a mixing of scales with some chromatic parts, not only B Pentatonic.
@DarrylSyms6 жыл бұрын
Perhaps, I didn't over analyse it but it's best not to think about it too much since it's at least clear that for the majority of the catchiest melodies that they're in Bm Pentatonic :)
@ricardojorgeproenca6 жыл бұрын
Darryl Syms I agree, sometimes i see myself deeply analyzing songs, doesn't matter how the music works. The important thing is just feel the music and if a song sounds good to me. Anyway great job !

I'm trying to learn the song by ear because you know... training, and coming here for the super-hard bits. About the intro - slowed down it sounds like slides and pull offs - how sure are you that it's hammer ons and pull offs?
@DarrylSyms3 жыл бұрын
Experience 👌 The difference is like black & white to my ears 👂
@topdog913 жыл бұрын
@@DarrylSyms Fair enough. I meant quick slides obviously, maybe I don't play enough legato to hear it easily. Also checked out the song video and even though it's over in a flash, he doesn't appear to slide. Thanks for answering and for the excellent content on this most incredible song, it's a guitar extravaganza.
