Dude I love Tom Morello and he is one of my favorite guitarist after Jimi, SRV, and EVH... and his approach to playing guitar is very original and unique. But sometimes his technique doesn't always fit in or make sense with whats going on as much as I hate to say that. Like why couldn't he just do a legit solo. Sometimes he over complicates shit w his technique. Besides doing his arpeggio scale runs or some kind of kill switch feed back solo I have never seen him do anything else which can be stale and boring after a while. Same w EVH his technique and tapping solos are amazing and fast speed picking but other then that it seems like him or Tom dont know how to do anything else outside of that or you already know whats probably coming instead of just improvising off of something else. Dont get me wrong Tom improvises w RATM during some of his solos but I know hes better than that. Him and Rage are my fav band of all time so I am not hating but even when Tom plays his folk music w Bruce or by himself he always does some whacky solo that doesn't fit in w the song hes playing lol. He pretty much did a bulls on parade solo over voodoo child... outside of RATM his solo style does not fit in. BUT w Rage he is amazing. Him and Timmy C have probably come up with the sickest bass lines/guitar grooves during the 90s when music was at a weird place imo. Also as a Southsider and a huge Sox fan it chaps my ass that hes a damn cubs fan. lol always made me laugh that hes against the system and his political views when he is always repping and from the richest parts of the northern subburbs Wilmette Winnetka area and the Northside is all rich yuppie capitalists like the Ricketts family!
