Hi. It is a vapor barrier and keeps the slab from wicking up moisture from the ground underneath.
@TheDrew20228 ай бұрын
Curious to know if there are codes that dictate when you need to cut concrete, how wide between cuts? Or is that just best practices for where you live? Reason I ask is I recently had a slab poured for a shop (20x29) and the monolithic pour they didn't cut anything.
@bondobuilt3868 ай бұрын
I think they should have cut it to control the cracking. 10 foot sections would be good.

I can appreciate the effort to hook the wwm up in the slab, however it is not a recommended practice. Spend a few bucks and use wire upper slab bolsters 2’ on center to ensure the wire is as close to the middle slab thickness as possible. I do commend you on maintaining high slumps on the concrete mix.

thats about the slump we pour at all the time. on day like todays pour, we'd screed it off but i'd leave it open if its getting machined. i wait about 15 mins and than hit it with the wood bullfloat and then crawl edged and machine as usual. by not sealing it up, it sets up faster with less waiting around. you have to know what youre doing and be on your toes to not get behind. we're starting our season today it rain stops ..... and if the eclipse dont destroy the world. :) the sawcut sounds like the jets on the carb need to be cleaned out. i try to remember to go thru all the carbs and service all the small engines before we start hitting it hard. nothing worse than snapping a dry rotted belt while finishing a floor thats going.
@bondobuilt3868 ай бұрын
We sometimes wait to float as well and you are correct it helps get it to dry better. You pour a good slump it sounds like. Ya that carb needs to be cleaned on the soft cut.
