Great quote. It sounds like a deviation of Gretsky's "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take". Love it. Keep it up!

Thanks for a fantastic video. I agree with you that visual strike detection is far more effective than waiting for tactile messages. I also agree about how relatively unimportant "sensitivity" is when choosing a fly rod for Euro nymphing. Given that, I was wondering if you could share what your current favorite Euro rod is?

Great video Dan starting euro nymphing I like the suffix line and how did you put your leader to sighted ring 1 or 2mm that was 8 lb. Suffix 6lb striker 5x Tipit just woundering just not sure how to set it up there’s a lot of information out there I would like a breakdown sense you are a guide thank you Dan tight line 👍

Killer video - no issues with spooking fish with that hi viz yellow? I’ve heard some of the more popular mono rig crowd claim it might, but figured I’d ask.
@HardwayOutdoors3 ай бұрын
@@duckmanco04 bright fly line yes, but I haven’t seen mono leaders disturb fish too much

@@HardwayOutdoors thanks man - last question - is it the superior or elite suffix. I’ve had it with my chameleon 10lb leader and want to try this one.

A wise man once told me “it’s all about the take.” I think sometimes he would fish with out a hook, just a tuft of rabbit hair. He was an interesting fellow.

I liked the info about fishing across stream.Your leader what type sufix mono are you using.Are you running it off a euronymphing line.Your videos are always great.Cheers

Cortland mono core line. And suffix high vis yellow is my leader
@pheasanttales760710 ай бұрын
Dan, I’m curious as to why you run your line over the rod and into the first eyelet?
@HardwayOutdoors10 ай бұрын
It keeps it closer to my left hand incase I drop the line. I always need to have control of my line with my left hand to managed my drifts and to fight fish when hooked. Doesn’t effect casting or a large fish pulling line. Also minimizes sad between my index finger and my first eyelet
@pheasanttales760710 ай бұрын
@@HardwayOutdoors awesome tip! After watching my own videos I’m seeing all these habits that probably aren’t helping me. Dropping that leader with my left hand happens more than I ever thought it did. Thanks!

Dan is your fly line out the end of the rod or do you run a micro knot to let it travel thru the guides?
@HardwayOutdoors10 ай бұрын
No my leader is long enough my fly line won’t come out my last rod guide. I was in a pinch for time that day and made the leader a little short that’s all. I just use a blood knot to attach leader to my cortland mono core line

Does being wrapped around your rod like that help or hinder? Asking for a friend. Great video, but man that drives me nuts when that happens 😂

Just a personal thing I like to do to keep my line closer to my hand so it is easier to regain incase I drop it. Also creates less sag in the line between the reel and first guide. Thanks!
