I rode a moped when I was 11 or 12. My cousin and I took turns and thought it was smart to take it to the mall. We didn't even make there before a cop caught us. No helmet, no license (obviously because of our age) and no registration or insurance. He just told us to go back home. We had no idea of the laws. It was the best things to a couple of pre-teen boys who had nothing better to do. Someone stole it eventually, I think. It was fun and too short lived! Brings back memories...thanks! :)

as a moped shop owner for 12 years....... the oil injector meters the correct amount of oil for a 50/1 mix;; by adding oil to the gas you are leaning out the mix ratio ;; try some amsoil saber 100/1 oil in the gas if you want a better lubrication without risking the motor seizing due to a lean condition;; and really your moped is not super illegal , it is not modified in any way that i could see or hear.... no expansion pipe(very illegal) or cylinder kit( also very illegal). you will get a ticket for both of those (modified equipment) and one for no MC endorsement (you need one for anything over 49cc or 35/40mph)

I owned a handful of tomos peds in highschool.. they were super popular in my town in new Jersey USA. Ever since then I've kept a scooter or ped as a backup vehicle. Would love another Tomos but they almost never come up for sale and when they do, the seller is usually a little too ambitious price wise. All of mine were targa lx's back in the day

from my experience, take your time and draw and number all of your parts. lay them out in sequence. After about the 10th or 20th engine/cycle you will not need to draw them out anymore. I can actually replay(in my mind) each part's removal. I know it sounds like bull shite or a waste of time, but it works for me.

the oil thats in there is actually gear oil , the clutch is actually submerged in the same oil , with mopeds like these theres usualy a screw in the side that when you take it out will have the oil seep out of the hole once it reaches the desired level

I built one and it does not require registration, insurance and you do not need a license to ride it. It goes 25 mph and gets 150 mpg. Gotta love Washington state and their laws on mopeds

Phatvortex is right. Adding extra oil reduces the amount of gasoline per volume of fuel, which gives a lean mixture.Oily is not rich. Hopefully, the plug will foul before the engine seizes or holes a piston. Another factor is that excess oil increases the overall viscosity of the fuel, to the point that the carburettor jets can't deliver fuel at the rate they are intended to - even leaner. It's normal practice when changing from pumped oil injection to premix, to go up a couple of jet sizes. If the bottom end parts of a two stroke engine look under lubed when you inspect it, or the top end looks overheated, drop the compression a little and use a premium synthetic oil at the same ratio as usual. Extra oil is a last resort. I remember people back in the 1980s buying brand new Yamaha RD 350 LC s (RZ if you are in the US) , putting extra oil in the tank to supplement the oil injector pump while breaking in the motor, and blowing up spectacularly the first time they gave the bike a thrashing...

Minarelli V1 engine. That is probably the best moped engine ever designed, and without much effort, can be kitted, and modified to rip like a beast. if you kit it with a Polini 80, matched pipe, and carb, you can easily get that girl rippin up to 60mph.... and up..... ;)

Carburetor needs a proper tunup. We have a rotory powered 50cc 4 wheeler, bogs big time going up a hill to where it almost wants to die but keeps going. A year earlier it wouldn't have even done that because the carburetor hadn't been tuned up for like 5 years. We had it tuned up when we had a part fixed at a local shop and it turns out it was running lean. Smokes like a banshee now under load but doesn't smoke when idling and running along flat surfaces.

Get the following things: * Front sprocket get the T13 * Rear sprocket get the T45 * Leo Vince" exhaust for mopeds or other advance exhaust * 19mm carburator for whatever your moped brand is * advance moped throttle, in Europe we call it speedgas just google "images"... * 19mm power filter for mopeds * rear brake disc * speeds gauges for mopeds Good Luck

That manual clutch is just for starting, once it's running let that lever go and just let the centripetal clutch do all the work. Those motors will lug and slip the clutch a bit, won't hurt them any, just kept 'er pinned.

Those don't require full registration or licensing as they don't complete the requirements to be a moped or a motorcycle, they qualify as a motor-assist bike. HOWEVER, they can only go up to 20 mph before they become illegal, and require insurance and licensing.

Not necessarily illegal. It may not require license or registration if the engine is less than 50cc and goes less than 30mph, in which case it would just be considered a motorized bicycle, and fall under the same rules as bicycles. Many places online sell 49cc motor kits for this very reason. Just tell the cop it has a 49cc motor and you should be good.

Dude the reason it's so easy to put back together is it is the first Ducati engine, that guy was a genius. I never liked them cuz they are way way over priced, till I raced one on my v-65 sabre and got smoked. Now if you know anything about anything you will know that for the longest time the v-65 sabre was the fastest and most powerful production motorcycle and when I say got smoked I mean bad. The guy actually parked next to my parking space at the college on purpose so I could feel his engine when I got there. In like a 4 mile race I got off,,,well I should say the last time i saw him he was riding a wheelie up a huge hill and when i got off his engine was cold! Yeah after that I just stopped thinking bad things about ducati, but never looked into their engines until I recently got a moped with an original v1 engine with 700 miles on it and immediately before riding it I had to tear it apart and see what made it tick. Amazing is all I can say, the centrifigal clutch with top hat engagine clutch is a work of art and I wish the chinese engine guys would incorporate that into their engines, it would solve all the chain problems they face. Treat that thing with respect man, it's truly a collector item no matter what anyone says. Some parts are hard to come by, you may have to learn to make your own, which for someone with your attitude won't be a problem. Peace Sizzlean

Nice, A General moped ! I had 3 of them when I was younger, but mine had the straight frame. Awsome bikes and pretty quick. Just had a Tomos also recently and I bought a racing carburetor off of ebay and slapped it on there. Sucker was quick. I would put super plus octane booster in the gas tank and I would smoke any other moped around town that came near me. was crazy.

Just a little tip.. take a small hose and put it thru the funnel. 1/4 fuel hose... reason why.. you'll be able to fill up that motor without spilling the oil everywhere.. 😂😂😂👌 sometimes you just gotta improvise
