Dave, on the first lap when you witnessed the drivers go low on the backstretch they were dropping back to get out of the lead pack of cars. Either the drivers are friends that are working together on via discord or both felt a "weird energy" from where they were running. This is a common tactic in races at the superspeedways even by real life drivers like Denny Hamlin in the pack style races, and it's a tactic that helped him win the Dayton 500 in 2019 and 2020. They6 decide to ride around at the back and try to avoid the wrecks that sometimes happen up front with people getting too aggressive and impatient that end up causing an accident.

Blimey Dave that was exciting. I don't usually like oval races but that was good. Superspeedways, one of the few events in Sim Racing where I really envy everyone for their triple screen setup. A great race and a very foresighted P. Irvin in front of you. Until you got a bit greedy.... no hard feelings ;
@Jpilgrim302 жыл бұрын
It’s basically a necessity in oval racing. Without it you tend to get taken out without a clue as to what happened.
@Gaso_Meter2 жыл бұрын
@@Jpilgrim30 I'm with you BUT I don't want to be kicked out of a race in the first place. It doesn't matter if I can see what or who causes the mess ;) In my opinion, a triple setup is a great gimmick, but I've been getting by without it for over 5 years in service. However, I bought an ultrawide a few years ago. Unfortunately, you see disappointingly little more tbh, but even that is helpful - kind of.

I was one of those guys that shit on oval racing my entirely life. Until I got iracing. I have an entirely new respect for oval racing after running it on the sim. A lot of times in a road race I just end up running laps by myself for large stretches of time. Most of the time in oval I’m stressed out and constantly thinking to myself, “don’t be the guy that fucks this up” lol

Also, they accident at 15:53. I think the #2 (RedBull) was going to side draft (trying to shove air on the rear spoiler of #12 (Macho Man), but #2 didn't realize how close that they were to #12 and ended up coming together and ended up causing the #12 to get real loose (oversteer) that caused him to do that lazy spin in front of you.

You may not race oval as much as most of the guys in the races with you but you are way smoother than just about all of them. I notice it in a lot in oval races and I don’t know if it’s because a lot of them are using cheaper wheels with a lot of slack around center or what. They just can’t seem to make it through the corners without swerving. Makes it hard to push.
@thecaddygrasscutter2 жыл бұрын

Man you have your bezel free kit setup so perfectly. Seems no matter how hard I try either with physical adjustments to the monitors or settings in iracing, I can never seem to get it this spot on. I wish I could get this exact view and everything on my rig. Also, maybe just the way it translates through the camera but even though my monitors are 165hz, the motion on your setup seems so much more smooth than mine.

Also, I just heard you speak at 5:54 about cooling the engines. That was like what I described in my previous comment, but cooling the engines in these cars and trucks there are a few different ways that drivers can do that. First, the might poke the front nose of the vehicle slightly to the left or right of the vehicle in front of them to allow some cooler air to the front grill opening. Another way is that will lay back just a slight amount so that they are dont have the nose of the vehicle right on the rear bumper so that some air can get sucked into the grill. However when it comes to the final few laps of the race, the drivers will typically try to stay 'hooked up' until they are coming out of turns 3 & 4 on the final lap and try get a good run to get around the leader or pickup someone who is mounting a charge on the opposite line to pick up that line to go past. Or they mistime the entire move and cause a huge wreck coming to the finish line.

On the superspeedways, some drivers do not like riding in middle of the pack. They drop off the racing line and go to the back to hang out until the end of the race.

I can go 500 laps at Martinsville and win the race, but cant seem to make it passed lap 120 on Daytona without getting wrecked. It's crazy that a track you don't need brakes on is more difficult than Martinsville.
@MikeBoire2 жыл бұрын
Dave I wanna give you some advice about maintaining the tight gap in the corners. You notice everybody moving around behind the car in front of them? Well its because guys are backing off the throttle to not ram into the car ahead in the corner right? I watched your throttle trace and you do it as well. Pro tip, ride the brake pedal a little big to scrub the speed and keep the skinny pedal planted. In the draft you should always keep the engine pinned and use the brake pedal to not run into the car ahead in the corners and tri ovals. It takes some getting use to but once you master it you will do even better on the super speedway’s.

The 2 and 12 were the cause of both wrecks. 2 took out the 12 and he then slid in front of you for the caution and then when 12 tried to go high and 3 wide the 2 veered out and gave 12 nowhere to go and then that little tap put 12 into the wall and then down to you. and then goes on to win it. That is 2nd race from 2 different people were the cause of the first caution ends up winning the race. The other one I saw was in a 1987 legends race, the car was in a wreck fighting for 20th and had to pit and then wins it it the end.
