In the lyrics where they mention the 5 letters, I think a better translation would be characters/syllables. Super Junior in Korean is 5 syllables - so he's basically singing "our name that has risen beyond the first to being the best"

Thank you so much for your continuing reactions to suju~ it always makes me so happy to see someone enjoy them ^^ I want to add, the translation of the lyrics is not quite accurate, rather than 5 characters, it is more fitting to translate the word here to syllables which then, in turn, would become the 5 syllables that make up the words Super Junior! the crown is so important to ELF, because it is often expected that SUJU because of their age are slowing down as a group and even disband because that is the norm for the kpop industry. groups do not usually have this long of a lifespan and be as active as SUJU is. The crown is a testament that they are not thinking about confining themselves to the standards for kpop groups and continuing on their own path, even if no one besides ELF is supporting them!

I love that SuJu is continuing to perform. That they got back together as a group after finishing all of their enlistments. I'm looking forward to them setting the example of what it is to be an "older" group in the industry.

super junior has always been pretty hands on with the framework of their concerts like the stages and other set-ups (even more so for this tour in particular because eunhyuk was the main stage director and shindong also was one of the concert directors i just dk what was his main role) they would always prioritize and maximize interactions with the audience/fans so they prefer stages that encompasses the whole venue over other intricate props not that this one was lacking haha i was one of the lucky fan that got to see the crown live and boy i had goosebumps all over my body. SS8 was truly one of their greatest concert tours. nice reaction as always, so thank you! :D

I saw it live as well, and I particularly liked that they did a lot at the center of the arena in the middle of the "8". As you say, they are particularly good at interacting with the audience. What I saw of SS9 so far has less of that. I suspect that does have to do with age a bit, even just walking and running through the huge arena is a marathon.

@@aligensa unfortunately for ss9, both eunhyuk and shindong werent a part of the directing. they have been very busy, which i guess resulted to less "interaction" for stages

@@delocian They might still have had a say in things like that though, even if the members didn't direct the whole thing? Another reason may also be if they want to take the show to more countries this time, including Europe, they don't have such huge arenas and stage equipment everywhere, so perhaps they already adapted from the outset in that regard.

@@aligensa they probably do, but what i understood from what hyukjae said (i forgot which interview, probably from dne show, is that they were only approvals? like most of it were already planned by dreammaker ent and was just run through to the members for "approval". so unlike ss7 and ss8 where hyuk himself was involved with the creative process from the very start (from setlist, lights, stage design, visuals), ss9 has an obvious lackluster feel to it. guess shinhyuk spoiled us too much 😅

@@delocian That's good to know, because I was a bit disappointed with the staging (not the performances!) of SS9. But if SuJu finally come to Europe again (instead of me having to travel to see them, which I can't afford at the moment), Ill be happy with anything. :)

I saw SS8 live in Japan, it was incredible. :) No, that tour was not in the Tokyo dome, but two smaller towns instead (Osaka and Saitama), still venues for around 30,000 people though, 3 shows in each (they even wanted to extend but Covid hit). The song reminds me a bit of Queen's "We Will Rock You", and it's perfect for an arena concert. The stage was a bit different in Japan and in Korea, in Korea they were standing inside the rectangles and in Japan on top, and what you are watching is a stage mix of both that the person who posted it made. Note the changing haircuts and colors of the same members. :) They played "Superman" as a kind of pre-intro before the actual show started. I think the DVDs are post-produced, so they are as good as the studio versions. The singing is very impressive live though too. There is an official lyric video for "The Crown" which uses images from a very sexy photoshoot for the "Timeslip" album (the lyrics video you watched uses photos from that). Oh well, there are more than enough opportunities to see the SuJu members look great. :) I think surviving military service only worked for SuJu because they didn't all go to the military at the same time, which they could do because they are a large group, they are not only talented idols, but also actors, hosts ..., and because they are such strong personalities that their appeal is not merely physical. And most of all, there is their penchant for making fun of themselves and their ability to keep surprising with new styles, both musically and visually (increasingly overseen by the members themselves). So their longevity is both due to very specific qualities as well as freakin' hard work. SuJu's variety show appearances and their own reality shows are unsurpassed, many Koreans even know them more for those than for their music nowadays.

suju's songs superman, the crown, and super are actually all connected to each other. if you read the lyrics... superman: "should i pluck the stars for you, count them one, two, three. with the stars we've lost we are thirteen stars. but we are not lonely. we have SM family and elf" the crown: "within the many stars scattered in the darkness, set the scene like a comet. the many stars that are stronger than ever" super: "the scattered stars finally find their places. turn the boring atmosphere around. time to steal your heart once again. the moment the blinding light overlaps, it blazes up and shine" the stars represents the members

Just watching this, that beat you are talking about here is called SMP sound, some of the SM groups have it: TVXQ ( Keep your head down), SJ with this song and Superman and SNSD too...lately AESPA have this beat too but it's something unique and reason why many fans started liking these groups at first.

Omg the beginning cuddles 😆🥰 I love this song, especially the live mix you watched! It's annoying that translations always say 'letters', when in English it would be 'syllables'! (So that part of the song was referring to Su-per-Ju-ni-or rather than crown.) The whole song is basically them saying they're fabulous and unbreakable again which I love 💙. Through it all and still fighting. I can't wait for Islands 😁, the live is so impressive vocally. But content will also be great... They're always funny on weekly idol, seeing the fear in the hosts' eyes as they realise they can't be controlled, like a bunch of wild children 😆🤣

The rare things are: + The first idol group have too many members (before SJ, a group just with 4 or 5 members. After SJ, a group have more than 10 members is normal) . +The first idol group have member who doesn't meet the standards for looks (ShinDong). +The first idol in SK have concerts in Paris and South America tour. + The first group have sub unit. Many, many and so many things they've done. You can check them out. Btw, I would like to tell younger idol's fandom who always say SJ is nothing, SJ is flop... I know nowadays there are many idol groups are more famous than them. But remember they are one of Gen 2 idol group who open the door, bring Kpop to the world, if you don't like them, that's ok but please respect them. Keep in mind that: The price will be replace, the first is always the first, never be replace.
