You can always get a side of one of your feet to the mat. Use that to right your hip the the sky and go from there.

I have personally done it live. After working this I spent about a month starting with my partners on my back and letting them throw the choke on. About three weeks in I was getting tapped out maybe one out of ten attempts. It takes time like anything else, but it does work. It's short sighted to just jump on something like this and claim it won't work, especially when you haven't practiced it.
