Went to go check out a 2016 canyon with 130k miles and after a 10 minute test drive, it was dumping tranny fluid. Im good

This. Was. Awesome. Probably one of the best YT videos I've seen in a long time, if I'm honest. Have a 2021 Canyon AT4 and, aside from the LGZ and 8 speed that mine has, this has to be the next best thing to looking into the future. Also my first vehicle bought new, I had the exact same reservations about buying GM as it sounds like you did, despite growing up with one in our driveway all my life. I'd have been pretty annoyed if my deflection from Honda turned out to be a shit pile. So far, I'm just shy of 26,000km, the computer in the dash has 7.3L/100km as the best it's ever done, and I plan to have mine for as long as possible as well. Big fan of quality things that I can keep around for a while. Thank you; I didn't think I could be any happier with my decision so far, and I am having seen this.

They are wicked little trucks. That’s insane mileage from the new motor and trans package! Hope it treats you well!

Funny enough, I got my truck the same month and year as you did😂😂

We’ve had a few of these trucks and they have been phenomenal. ‘15 went 375k on original drivetrain. Oil pump failed, put in a low mileage used engine and it went to 450k when the trans cooler inside the radiator failed and took out the tranny. Our ‘19 is currently at 325k and going strong. We have two others with around 150k on them. Minimal issues. We just bought a ‘24 Colorado WT and two ‘24 Canyon AT4s. Trucks are awesome, hope they are as reliable as the previous gen.

That's pretty incredible mileage out of these. GM direct injected v6 has been around forever and from what i saw was very durable. Curious to see how the next generation works out. I wanted a new canyon really bad but no long bed was non negotiable for me.

Thanks for your response. Great channel,I have learned a lot. Please give me your opinion on brakes. Powerstop or factory ? Almost time for brakes. Enjoy your day. 👍

Based on my experience with them I’d go Powerstop without a doubt. My factory rotors warped badly but pad life was in excess of 50%. I have about 45,000 miles on this set of brakes and they are great. The drilled and slotted rotors make more noise under braking and will wear down pads faster but for what I do they are perfect. Factory rotors may not give you as much trouble if you aren’t towing as heavy and often as I do. Good luck 🤝

Big thing on the older Taco is the small cab height and extreme. Used price. GM is quick and good ride, I'd. Still buy a 1500.

My 16 Colorado had the shifting problems also in the beginning, a tune from Trifecta solved that and never looked back. Hope this helps you.

I put a bad news racing tune in this at about 30,000 miles which helped but the shutter was still there. Gonna have to look into the trifecta. The hesitation has almost gotten me into some trouble a few times. Nothing like stomping on the gas and having nothing happen for a whole 1.5 seconds 😰

Dude I had that same purge valve solenoid issue in my '15 Canyon All Terrain and it had me PANICKED for a minute. Easy fix tho lol have you not had any issues with your sway bar links yet? I also absolutely hate the transmission. I've read that getting a Pedal Commander or a Banks Pedal Monster completely negate this issue. I've thought about dropping the $300 USD to test it out but that's a good chunk of money for it to possibly not work lol

Haha yep, the super loud tick scared the crap out of me. Especially when it stalled at a light 😰. As for the transmission, I have heard all sorts of remedy’s, difference fluid, pedal commanders, not sure how much it would do. My TCM flash helped, but it still sucked….

Very interesting. Did the control panel ever get wet by leaving the window down? If not it must be a moisture issues inside the door.

I actually made an entire series about it but ended up delisting them. Posting vids about different subjects kinda messes with the KZbin algorithm so I pulled them.

It must have been the same trans in my ‘19 Silverado LD (legacy model, same as ‘18). I too don’t care for automatics, but that six speed was the biggest piece of shit slush box I’ve ever had to live with. Just got rid of it after 205k miles. That tranny never knew what to do. Made you feel like you didn’t know how to drive or something lol.
