Thanks for showing the petcock. The plastic is so flimsy I was afraid to twist mine far enough. It wanted to stop at about quarter turn but seeing you do it help me understand that I just had to fight with it a little bit. I have the diesel and about 2 gallons of coolant came out, total capacity is closer to 3 so i know not everything came out.

The 86 is a better car in my opinion. Just a savage little car. Mustang is a bit of a freak show and still needs some work, suspension and angle wise. Feels right with the JZ in it tho 🤝

The turbine housing is too small for that engine to breathe properly, this dyno graph looks like a stock undersized turbo is on the engine. The tell tale sign is when the engine makes more torque than horsepower on the dyno graph. It may be happier with an .82ar turbine housing instead.

Big think with any dyno. The curve and the shape of the curve. Big tell of how it will drive it that wall of tourqe. Nice shape come right up and holds. Explains why she drives how she does. Next stop a switch for secondary boost maps and 25 psi.

Is that a Garrett g25-550 bro ? How’s the car been holding up, gonna run that turbo on mine but I’m thinking of building the bottom end, metal gasket and headstuds, aiming for a reliable 400whp on pump .. I’ve been told it can make 400hp stock head and block but I don’t want to chance it, what are your thoughts based on how yours been holding up

Rhett when with a smaller Pulsar g series turbo, a 5449G (G25-550 Copy), he ran oil and coolant to it and so far so good. If you are trying to make 400 on a beams, rods and pistons, OEM+ Bearings and ARP studs would be wise to do, just like rhett did. If you run an ethanol blend you should be able to hit that based on our experience. He is running 16 PSI currently on 94 Pump and is likely around the 340 wheel mark. I am unsure of the block or head being an issues, however i have heard at a point the titanium valves can be a reliability issues. We have not run into that issue yet.

Thanks man! I went Pulsar for a few reasons cost being one. They are Garrett copies from what I understand, I have watched other KZbin’s and friends run these with no issues so figured why not. I chose this size based on the recommendation of the KING TUNER. It’s a street car / drift car, wanted something that would respond well and make around 400 wheel. This thing starts to light around 3,000RPM and is about 21 PSI by 4,100RPM. ABSOLUTELY GET THE T51R mod. Rhett Boosted AE86 has a pulsar without it and regrets it so much. It sounds sick. Good luck man!

@ just watched Your most recent video about this and dont worry about too much about the numbers man as long the car is running and healthy, i am definitely getting a pulsar turbo and I just cant decide between the one you used and and the 3067 gen 2 series and what rear housing to go with. Great content and looking forward for more videos keep it up
@SDSGarage89
@SDSGarage89 24 күн бұрын
@ haha trying not to worry about it, not doing a good job lol. It performs well and the fasted car I have ever drifted so complaints are minimal. The 5455G I got from pulsar is a G30 660 copy which I believe is a more advanced turbo than the one you referenced. Never super looked into it but that’s what I heard. If you are running stock turbo set up now I can tell you it feels so good to let these things breath properly. My waste gate dumps under the car and when you crack the gate on the highway or in town it breaks necks and sounds sooooooooo good. 1J E36 is sick!
@SDSGarage89
@SDSGarage89 22 күн бұрын
@ I went with a .72 AR rear housing. Definitely on the smaller side but wanted something to light quick at lower RPM as it is helpful for drifting. No complaints so far aside from number chasing lol. It works great!

2016 GMC Canyon SLT long bed 4 x 4 with 176,000 no major issues whatsoever with proper maintenance 3.6 L is quiet as a mouse oil has been changed every 5000 miles with PO ultra platinum and GM or Wix filters … front rear diff and transfer case changed twice and transmission service twice and have actually no problems have done the brakes of course and have 80,000 on the Michelin LTXMS2 and they look like they have plenty more left. Totally surprised after normally buying Toyota products that this truck is this good….very little wind noise and road noise and sitting at 176,000 and nothing major and have owned it nine years this December. Oops forgot to say that I replaced the water pump coolant serpentine tensioner at 120,000 just as preventive maintenance … Thanks for the great KZbin video. Surprised in North Carolina, Phil

Thank you for this! I had recently purchased a 2017 Canyon AT back in September and it's been fantastic so far. Only issues I've came across so far was a glitchy console screen (which was an easy $20 screen replacement) and a worn down thermostat that keeps getting stuck open. I absolutely love it and was glad to find this video and to see others liking it too, makes me feel like I made a good choice. Will definitely keep an eye on the transmission though!

That graph doesn't look too smooth, If you've verified the motor is healthy and everything mechanically checks out unfortunately your tuner is the issue. Find someone who is known for tuning JZ's and has a track record of doing so. Spec tuned in FL, Sound performance in IL, and Danny at Unrivaled Tuning in Cali know what they are doing. Just giving you some examples. 23 psi on pump 94 is pushing it. You want to be around 18-20 psi for a safe pump gas tune. Good luck :)

@@SDSGarage89 I'm not looking at the numbers, its the curve itself that doesn't look smooth. Powerband is also wonky given the turbo size/engine. If it truly is a g30-660 clone you should be around mid 400's without running out of steam. I hope you can get it figured out, second opinion form another tuner would be my first move
@SDSGarage89

Timing up top definitely has room for improvement. That’s a job for the spring once we get some knock headphones. I’m still figuring this out but from what I have seen online this Turbo should make 400, I may need a slightly larger back housing but before we do that there are improvements to be made still.

I'd suggest to just try a bigger turbine. It's nosediving after ~4500 every time so it looks like you are just running out of flow. The .73 turbine is pretty small and the v-band to T3(4) adapter might not help. Easiest test would be to keep everything the same but just change the turbine. +double double check for boost leaks :) I'm trying a similar setup with the G30-660 1.01 A/R on a non-vvti with cams but will be several months till I get to a dyno. Plan was to make power till 7000 but will probably be limited by the turbo up top.

You ran 20- 22 psi on the 300 whp ish? I have to run 2,2 bar (32psi) boost to make 450 whp on my 1jz vvti on pumpgas (Europe 98, so like the US 93). So up the boost :D All the vids poppin up of the guys getting the 400 - 450 whp on just over a bar.. No idea why but i needed to run this sick amount of boost :P Got a efr 7670 turbo i think its simular to your turbo. (mabe my turbo is a little bit smaller..) Good video tho!
