@@tloz171nfs every level is distinct in it's own unique way with clever level design, music is fun, cheerful and upbeat like Mario 64 and the old games, blue coins act like the red coins in Mario 64 with a more fun style to them, nozzle upgrades are fun unlockables with good upgrades to help you reach undiscovered points in the hub and to access new shines in levels, worst level in Mario history is rainbow ride on 64 due to the terrible constant screen moving.

It's not a Nintendo announcement without a few bizarre, uncalled-for poison pills thrown in. A lot of good stuff here, made slightly-to-possibly-significantly worse by some truly strange decisions. Also, I don't know why we're still expecting Nintendo to have anything more for the fall/holiday. What on Earth could they realistically reveal that would even come close to what we would want for a big holiday vehicle? I hate to say it, but I think this is it, folks...this is all we're getting.

Same goes for any other game that might be something we'd consider worthy of being a holiday vehicle. I'm sure they've got a ton of great stuff in the pipeline, but I am deeply skeptical that they're gonna reveal, market, and release any of it in less than three months.

The only other title of that caliber that we know is in the works is Metroid, and that's not realistic for this year, either. Sure, there could be a MK9, or a Mario Odyssey 2 coming, but that would be a REAL stunner. I'm just sayin'...don't expect Nintendo to knock your socks off this holiday. It would be great if they did, but this late in the year, what you're asking for would be one of the greatest reveal-to-release moments in the history of gaming. Don't see it happening, personally.

Kayden 21 botw 2 will be a 2021 release. 2020 has been a break for nintendo. Even console gen goes through a year where nothing major comes. Since covid happened, nintendo decoded to lay back for this year. Why push hige releases when many have income issues and many mothers and father would rather buy food for a week for theor children then major titles releasing every few months from nintendo.

The limited time digital & physical release is so unbelievably anti-consumer and anti game preservation. Not surprising with Nintendo but still such a shame to see in 2020. Collections like 3D All Stars help with game preservation, yet the limited release of this title really limits its positive impact.

From an article I found pro controller is compatable with all star 3d games. But you CAN use the joy cons with galaxy(pointing/aiming) if you choose to.

The 3D collection games are all remastered, you can tell by the text in 64 and the textures look a lot smoother. Also I would not have expected a full remake for 64, maybe if we were lucky something like OoT3D with new textures and slightly updated models, but that is it. A 64 remake would have been 60 dollars all of its own.

There's a reason they went with those 3 games for the All Stars bundle. They are all similar in the sense of having a form of a 3D Open World Hub. Where you unlock different areas that have multiple levels. That's why 3D world is on it's own and I believe Mario Galaxy 2 didn't have a hub like the first game with the Observatory. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But I can see that's why they picked 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy 1 as the games for the bundle.

Joy-cons only for Galaxy is the right call. If you go back and play it and pay attention to all the parts that rely on motion or pointer controls, I think you'd agree that they made the right call there.

That said I get the confusion on Galaxy's controls, it looks like it's been confirmed you don't have to use joy con, and I definitely would have marketed in the Direct that 3D World has online.

Sunshine and Galaxy don't need to be remade they look amazing. Mario 64 hasn't aged very well graphically. Id rather them Port the DS verison which had more characters and content overall just better looking.

Cool for the people who love Mario. 3D World has always been on my radar and would be good to play with the gf, but I wanted an actual Nintendo Direct vs. a Mario direct. Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4 would be awesome to have any news on. I would've preferred that to a Mario exclusive direct. But cool, I knew this wouldn't have anything other than Mario, so it's not that I was surprised. lol I know that I shouldn't get my hopes up, but fingers crossed that they make a Metroid 35th anniversary direct.

Something super important to note about the Mario 64 part of the collection, judging by the audio is that this is the Shindou release (essentially version 1.1) of Mario 64 which never had a Western release ever. I think its more important to get a Western release of that than it is to get an updated remaster (which they've never done for a 3D offering on a home console) - see the Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax edition coming to Switch and PS4 for the first time in the US. This direct was one of the highlights of the year for me, only beaten by the Nocturne/SMTV direct mini, weird limited release decisions aside.
