Super Mario Odyssey has made me appreciate this game more in retrospect. When I was playing 3D World, all the time I was thinking "this is nice but I wish we had a new game in the style of 64 and Sunshine". After playing Odyssey I realized both type of games have their virtues and defects and are equally enjoyable yet different.

3D world has the best coop of any 3D mario. That for me just gives the game his place alongside the other master pieces. I had so much enjoyment of playing this with my friends and family. Easy for newcomers, hard for dedicated players, just like the others. I wouldn't mind at all a new entry in the 3dland/world series for the switch, specially with the multiplayer enphasis of the console

Odyssey, in spite of outstandingly well designed controls and presentation, was hardly even a game. There were so many moons, and they were all so easy to get (walk three steps to the left. Congradualtions, you got a power moon!) that the actual gameplay was the digital equivalent of dangling keys in front of an infant. "Ooo, look how shiny this is!" accounted for around 90% of Odyssey's "gameplay". A truly shallow experience.

Justin Parris, i understand what you are saying, but at the same time it feels like you are only refering to the endgame content of the game, because every time that you enter a new world in mario odyssey you have clear objectives and the world plays very similar to a typical mario level. And you even fight one or two bosses in each major world. The only difference is that the game allows you to play the way you want to play, so you cna go out of the way to collect some random moons every time you explore a new world. But that doesn't change the fact that the game has some very clear objectives that you can pretty much follow and finish the game without collecting a whole bunch of "pointless" moons

There are at least some power moons in the end game that offer some level of challenge or interesting interactivity. The objectives when you reach a new world in the main game are hardly objectives at all, and mostly consist of walking around the world one time. It's a virtual tour of the new place you're in. Then as soon as you've walked around the block, before you've actually had to do much of anything, they take you to a new world because if they don't constantly inject the novelty of new areas, the shallowness of what you're actually doing is revealed.

I was one of the insane ones to complete this game with all of the characters. I don’t even want to think about how many times I played this level. I think James and Mike may have had a bit of a disadvantage doing it 2 player though. 1 player is a bit easier because you don’t have to keep track of both characters, etc.

This. A thousand times this. I don't get all these people saying they only could do it with Mario or Peach. Rosalina has a freakin' double jump. She makes everything before the Piranha plant climb pretty trivial.

Peach is still easier tbh cuz of her float. But, the absolute best thing to do is to get tanooki suits before entering this stage. It makes all the switch block parts trivial and helps a ton with tricky jumps. It even makes the piranha plant jumping easier, because you can hover for a bit after each jump and aim your next one. And to top it off it makes the final part easier because you can float in the air and dodge the laser beams. I don't know why you'd get cat suits for this level, it's useless here.
