It’s surreal knowing that this and the game itself are over a decade old now. When I first saw this game being advertised, I wanted a Wii U for the longest time growing up, almost solely for it alone. It’s what originally got me into Game Grumps. I would constantly watch their playthroughs of it to suffice my need for the game, while laughing my ass off at them screaming and screwing around with each other. So I can’t explain how ecstatic I was when I heard it was coming out on Switch, 7 years after its initial release. I picked it up instantly. And man, this game was just an absolute blast. The catchy music, the level designs, the over all game in general. There is almost nothing about it that I can say I dislike. Now, this game is definitely a far better experience when you have friends involved, and I imagine the same if you’re playing the original game on Wii U. Sadly, I didn’t have any friends for my first time playing. But none of that takes away from the fact that this is a beautiful game. It’s so charming. The visuals are lovely. And, in my opinion, it is one of the best Mario games we’ve ever gotten. Super Mario 3D World, thanks for the joy you brought me.

SMG1&2 are still the greatest Mario games, in my humble opinion, but I do love 3D World for the accessibility, co-op, and the fusion of 2D and 3D Mario mechanics. It's a shame that most of the super-innovative platforming in SMG1&2 (like the various gravity puzzles) simply wouldn't work or would be very difficult to program with two or more players running around. However, if there was some way to bring Mario Galaxy's incredibly tight controls, superb level design, and fantastic boss fights to a 1-4 player 3D Mario game, Nintendo would have my money so fast. Hell, if they released another Mario game like Thousand Year Door or with a story as good as Super Paper Mario, I'd also take that.

Maybe, but personally, I'd like to have a 2nd Super Mario RPG, and they add Luigi, Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, Rosalina, Bowser jr, and Professor Egad as playable characters.
