I would it funny he criticized two of the non-required levels, if not three of them. The watermelon rolling, the Yoshi fish platforms, and the Bowser balloon roller coaster are all hard as nails levels, but they are all not required to get to the boss. It makes sense for the non-required levels to be more of a challenge. I may have beaten the watermelon level, but I don’t think I ever beat the other two. But I’m not really a completionist type.

All the piantas know about mario and purposely force you to do their missions for the shine. If you did not obey. Mario is imprisoned on the island till the shines are restored. On top of all that mario is framed by bowser jr So the level of unfairness to mario is extreme in sunshine. No wonder why mario looked like he was about to cry when put behind bars So its accurate "They all hold them and blame you"

You know, I never get the complaint that Mario Sunshine is just a janitorial simulator game. The whole 'clean up the island' thing is just an excuse so that FLUDD has a purpose. You spend a couple of missions at the beginning actually doing some cleaning (which is mostly just beating a miniboss to make all the goo go away), and then a few more spread throughout the game, but the game is mostly platforming with the FLUDD mechanics thrown in, and those mechanics make the game incredibly unique. I'd argue that Sunshine felt like more of a rushed and tedious game than SM64 (with the red coins in previously-beaten stages and the horrible blue coins), but the gameplay and level design were both top-notch, and I love Sunshine for it.

I like Sunshine because it's something all gamers always ask for and rant about that thing is: SOMETHING DIFFERENT, A CHANGE. Also the soundtrack is awsome, the mechanics of FLUDD are cool, Yoshi was never as usefull as in Sunshine, the levels are great with a few exceptions (but come on every game has a part that sucks balls *cough* water temple *cough*), it introduced so many great characters, and I often hear the story is crap... yeah... and a princess getting kidnapped from a fat turtle for no reason other than getting rescued from a fat italian plumber for the 200th time is good? Bowser Jr. actually has a reason for kidnapping her, other than that the story and most of the gameplay are the same as in any other Mario title. Also Super Mario Sunshine is basicly Super Mario 64 only with FLUDD and a more open gameworld.

Yoshi was never LESS useful as in sunshine. In SMW it gave you extra hits, could eat ennemies, and gave you ann extra jump. IN Sunshine his flutter jump is redundant due to FLUDD,, there aren't as many enemies, and you are lessmobile. The whole thing with the barriers you need yoshi to get past is the only reason you would ever use yoshi.

Super Mario 64 wasn't like Super Mario Sunshine Bowser had told Bowser Jr. that Mario had kidnapped Peach, I can't remember, so Bowser Jr. hid in a Mario Costume so Mario would have to clean up all the gunk that BJ left behind then 64 was when Peach got stuck in the Mural of her castle and Mario had to get all the Stars and Defeat Bowser to Save Princess Peach There's not much resemblance except for Bowser stealing Peach and Mario saving the day

Sunshine is underrated. I think people don't realize that Sunshine was actually a critically acclaimed and commercially successful game. Funny enough, I agree with everything here - the game gets tedious, Bowser's voice is weird, it definitely appeals better to kids, the concept is kinda dumb, et cetera - except for it being a bad game. I respect your opinion, but I actually find everything wrong with the game that doesn't directly affect gameplay to be funny and something I can laugh at. Tedious parts are annoying, yes, but almost every game has something like that. Sunshine is far from my favourite game, but I enjoy it nonetheless, and I enjoy this song too. You're definitely right about that watermelon thing though. Seriously, fuck those melons.

I didn't like the blue coins and the obstacle courses freak me out (especially with the mechanics glitching here and there unexpectedly and those dopey timed levels), but I love the game overall and it will always be a part of my childhood. I loved Super Mario Sunshine because it seemed to be the only Mario game which truly developed the same concept that Mario 64 went with: star collecting inside huge levels where you could choose to go for something different now and again. It was very explorative, the FLUDD was a great tool for moving around, and the areas were for the most part very calming and/or interesting. The only part of this video I do not care for is when you say that the game probably only is fun for you if you're 4 years old. That's just insulting to the whole audience that enjoyed the game. Of course, you did contradict that in the end, but I'm sure you could come up with something else that sounded both good and wasn't as "politically incorrect". The rest of the video is just harmless subjectivity that has entertaining editing and commentary. And the remix is very fun too. The point of the video could come across better, but it's overall very entertaining, just as the initial Super Mario Land video was.

Introducing Super Mario 3D All Stars!

One of the reasons why I absolutely love this game and have played it SEVERAL times is how casual it is, that might just be because I've gotten so good at it over the years and countless 100% play throughs, but very rarely (if it's not a secret shine) does the game put you in a fast paced or difficult situation. The majority of the game is slow and casual, if you are skilled it can make the slow parts fast (like blue coins), while still keeping the casual tone. Also the glitches.... The mother effing glitches. I've spent literal days experimenting with this game sometimes and it's so fun to mess around and break the boundaries of what you are supposed to not be able to do. Every environment of this game is appealing, I could actually see myself in any one of these places in the game, so much so that for PE one year, on a project over disc golf, I actually made a small disc golf course for each level! The soundtrack, the blessing from Jesus grandma that is the super Mario sunshine soundtrack..... enough said there The story might not be the best, it may just be another "peach has been kidnapped" but they added on to it a little with the motive for bowser jr and a couple of other plot devices like fludd and the piantas Besides, it makes up for the mediocre story with the gameplay, controlling Mario is just so fun at times with the use of fludd and other objects and enemies throughout the game, I don't know how to describe it.... just doing the different moves and being able to get momentum is just so much fun Versus I believe deserves a spot in my comment, after all, Super Mario Sunshine Versus (Project Stingray) was their first versus and one of my personal favorites. Watching Tyler and josh play the game and being fucking dumbasses while doing it made the game even more fun for me Anyways, that's all, sorry if I took your time away with this really long comment. But I don't necessarily see them as flaws, more like too realistic for normal mario games. The piantas holding the stars could just be selfishness, bribery to get mario to do something for them. And the whole thing of putting mario in jail, I tried looking up if delphino plaza is within the mushroom kingdom, but it's really used for transport so I didn't get an answer if it was or not, but it would make sense if it was not. That means they don't really know who Mario is, and they clearly don't do backgrounds. Maybe a little behind on technology too. It's just a different feel to Mario really.

Its a game with decent challenge, (rare for most games) so when you finally beat a level it feels like...Well winning dark souls. Its design, colors and art direction are very beautiful to look at and enjoyable. The game has a lot of variety in levels and its always something new from playing dentist with a giant eel, to giving a golden Chain Chomper a bath, to balancing yourself on a giant sand bird, to fighting a swarm of angry manta rays. The pollution adds an extra level of gameplay that can be quiet enjoyable.

Great truth in this. Sunshine isn't terrible, but it isn't a classic like pretty much any other Mario game is. It's good to see you correct yourself some several years later, but next time, maybe it would be better if you knew what you were talking about when you make comments like "Sunshine is like, the _best_ one!" If I don't have any experience with a game, I just don't comment on it. If someone asked me "Is the newest madden or call of duty any good?" I disagree, I like sun shine the best, but I don't have any nostalgia for it, I only played it like 4 years ago.Though I like it because of Delfino Isle. It just feels like such a real place. Other Mario games tend to have their levels built in some sort of infinite space, like a vast expanse of ocean, or lava, or flat ground, or space. They never really feel like real locations. Which is fine, but, I like it more when the place feels alive.

There is no problem with enjoying Sunshine, but it did have some serious pacing problems and the like, and it is important to "accept/acknowledge" them. It's one of those "hate or love" games. Either way, I really liked what they did, and hope they will go back to the more "world creation" formula some time.

To be fair, it really is a bad plot. As anyone who's watched a single court case knows, this whole thing could have been avoided if the court hadn't clearly been rigged. Chuggaaconroy went to great detail to point out everything wrong with how the court handled it.

1:04 This was actually my train of thought when I first saw the commercials back when they aired. I think I was maybe twelve or so? "Why would I want this it looks so dumb." Sunshine's commercials alone even made me NOT want a Gamecube. But then Smash Bros happened, and the Cube I got that Christmas came with Sunshine. I reluctantly gave it a try and holy shit I could not put that controller down. It was like digital crack. The game's definitely aged a bit now, but I'd say it still holds up as one of my favorite Mario games.

Super Mario Sunshine isn't bad, it just doesn't play like a normal Mario game. To many people, that deviation from the normally rigid structure of Mario games is actually a good thing. Some of the things SMS did very well included giving Mario a different mission (it starts with him getting framed, and by the time Peach gets kidnapped, you're already invested), changing up Mario's notoriously stale boss design (which normally boil down to "dodge their attacks and jump on their head 3 times"), and thoroughly developing and exploring a single setting instead of 8 wildly-different, shallowly-designed, generic environments.

Personally Sunshine is my favorite Mario game, but even I'll agree the cutscenes are better watched with the tv muted. Also you gotta remember how well games like Animal Crossing and Viscera Cleanup Detail have sold and when you break it down these games are all the same, work and chores presented to you through a new medium that makes them seem fun.

***** The game is great and _if_ they would make a remake of it (while I'd rather have a sequal) they could change a few minor things like at one point you have to get to an island and you have to get there with yoshi. But Yoshi dies in the water so you have to go with the boat. Then stand on another island wait for the other boat. Then wait on some kind of low steel pilair to wait for the other boat and then you are on the island where you have to be. And if you fucked up once on the way there you have to start over. When you are on the island you have to do an incredably hard shine and if you go game over there you have to start all over again. They could make that one a bit less tedious. But anything else they have to leave as it is because I don't want a super guide for morons or Miiverse intergration.

I mean, its pretty obvious that in actual terms Mario Galaxy is the best, even if its not my favorite. It had beautiful graphics (the water in sunshine was better though IMO), it actually had a story that was very interesting (the storybook), it had flawless, fluid, and new gameplay mechanics (star spin, underwater shells, the iceskating, the starbits, may I go on?), great pacing IMO, and a good difficulty with a large amount of content. Some if mt is easy, but there are a lot of challenges in it. The purple coin missions are the only things that can get a tad tedious
