THe PC port honesty killed the other versions for me, and the Render96 project is one of the coolest things ive ever seen cant wait to get a good graphics card good enough for the rtx and visualk ennhancments

I've played the remake, and it's cool, the the only problems are the animations. When you spam the long jump this animation tends to glitch. But the game is still enjoyable

I was hoping for that too when Nintendo announced that there would be a 35th anniversary collection celebrating the 3d Mario games. But no all they did was port the N64 version to the switch and upscale it. If they were to put love into remaking Mario 64, they would include the 30 extra stars and levels from the DS version and that would be amazing. But that’s not the case sadly. 😪

It's kinda neat how all of these versions can be considered the best one yet also not at the same time. 64DS adds a ton to the original, although now you need certain characters to get certain stars and that could take longer than simply playing the game as Mario since you also need to unlock them, not to mention some may not like the new stars added, the N64 version is the original version so it doesn't count, the switch version (which I know the one shown in this video is the hacked one, but I'll be talking about the SM3DAS version) is arguably the best way to play the original game officially, although it also doesn't improve on pretty much anything, so if you don't like some stuff in the original you'll also not like it here, the PC port is more so great for modders since now they can pretty much do anything without thinking about the limitations of the N64 (even though that kinda detracts from how cool some sm64 romhacks are, since there in something like sm64 last impact most of things added are cool because "hey look! It's the frog suit in Mario 64!" Meanwhile on PC it's just like "huh, he added powerups, neat") although the version of Sm64 on pc I played is Sm64plus, and it's basically the Sonic 3 A.I.R. of Mario 64, if you want to play the original, you can do it, if you want to have a different and potentially better experience, you can have it as well, like since I played this game a million times, I played in the encore mode option, (which mirrors the game and changes the Colors) and it felt really weird playing it that way, then you can set wide-screen have the game at 60FPS, don't have the stars boot you out of the level and more, so it's perfect for a more casual experience. Meanwhile the fan made remake is just cool because it's actually accurate to the original though the things it does add feel natural (in the courtyard at least since it's not finished yet) unlike other remakes.

The fan made remake looks nice but i think the animation needs some tweaking, mostly because i've been playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 because I sadly don't have a nintendo switch. I think his idle animation should look around like the others, especially since he looks around in Mario Galaxy 2 similar to Mario 64, and his swim animation looks a bit too quick and snappy I think.

My Conclusion: Get 3 versions: NDS, N64 and PC (emulator) N64: Just to play how it was intended to play (120 stars) and its the original so you can use the original glitches to speedrun and break own records NDS: More levels, minigames and more stars (150 stars) and its a complete remake of the original PC: To play a certain romhacks which some are even bigger than the original game. (skelux and kaze made whole new Mario games which able to run on a N64 emulator) its really worth your time to play these

I don't know what footage you got, but what you claim to be Switch, definitely isn't Switch. The Switch port isn't widescreen, it's still 4:3, but the hud sprites, like the stars and life counters are still pixelated in your video when they're smooth and clear definition in the Switch port
