Interesting discovery: Something that Josh65536 did in EfSM256 prevents this glitch from working. The shell won't stay on the water, instead falling right through.

Hey, now I am curious. What are the properties of the water shell outside water? Could we use Yoshi's tongue to possibly bring it to a tile without water in it? Would the shell just despawn? Would it just transform into a normal shell? Or maybe you can just use it as a normal shell underwater... but then would this be useful? Or maybe you could carry the shell OUTSIDE water! But then, what effects would this have in the game depending on the answers on this questions? And would it be useful in any way? Dude, I thought this video would bring me answers but it just brought me questions... so many questions...

Can you use this to clip out of bounds in DDD, if so can you use it to collect the underwater cage star without luigi/power flower?

You can get OoB with it, yeah! As far as I know nobody has managed to start swimming again though, we've only fallen and died. I think it's probably possible, but nobody has looked at it in a couple of years. After my shell breaks I just start swimming again even if I'm well below the water trigger. Am I doing something wrong?

Nescre Are you breaking the shell by hitting a wall, or getting hit by something? If you have Water Storage (by starting swimming before beginning to ride the shell) then doing one of those will cause you to start swimming again. Break the shell by pressing R.

How many stars are humanly possible BCCless?

Difficult question. Not including all red coin stars and 100 coin stars as they are all obviously impossible, these stars are also impossible: Mario Wings to the Sky, Blast Away the Wall, Switch Star of the Bay, Eye to Eye in the Secret Room, Into the Igloo, Inside the Cage, 5 Secrets of the Mountain, and the Big Boo Battle painting star. The only BCCless strats that are possible with TAS but could be difficult in real-time that I can think of are Luigi in the Cage, Behind Chain Chomp's Gate, and the Behind the Waterfall balloon star. I have a video on Luigi in the Cage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5uYoHmVppWXadU. If you could do the clip and then land OoB on the seam, then a Luigi backflip should make the last part not too difficult. This should be doable but it would be very tricky. For Behind Chain Chomp's Gate, the current strategy is definitely TAS-only. I don't think there is a proper video of the star being done BCCless but the strat used in this video could be done without getting any coins: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZ_ThWSJi9KXZ7M. This strat will probably never be done by a human, but I have an idea of an easier way that I will probably make a video on if it works. For the Behind the Waterfall balloon star I think the strat is too hard to be done by a person. It's definitely the hardest possible BCCless star, assuming my idea for Behind Chain Chomp's Gate works.
