Yeah, some airships were blue and green. It's due to the NES colour palettes. If you remember, cheeps cheeps inside castles were also blue because of it.

It is easier as an adult. Spare some time on a saturday morning and go world by world. There are some places where you can stock lifes if you need them (like the coin castle i think in world 7). You will get there with lots of lives, p wings and clouds. Its not that hard. You can even try the levels before skip them and see they are beatable. Oh. The american version is easier

A neighbour of mine had the japanese version. It seemed unbeatable when I was a kid. When I was 20 something I managed to get a copy and started playing as I told you, just for fun, with no warps. I just beat it with ease. And having experienced all the worlds and everything that is ingenious about this masterpiece, when the curtain dropped... I was alone, but I just stood up and clapped.

@Lowbrow content 05 [NOT A BOT] yeah... One thing I noticed was that their wind up animation when they attack is longer in the New series, while here, well, it's basically non-existent. So, that also contributes as to why they feel more of a threat. The flooring in some of these boss rooms is also quite uneven, which hinders your ability at dodging their attacks.
