I've tried Mario 3 but I prefer Mario World. It was one of the first games I've ever played along with Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. It was also the Advance port and I remember my sister, nearly all of my cousins, and I all shared the game between each other before if finally became just my game and I eventually 100% it (dragon coins and all so now they're Peach coins). It's the game I have the most memories with and is also the reason I like Luigi more than Mario. The things I could do with his jump height and the fact that when he was on Yoshi, he could hold enemies in his mouth for a little bit while Mario on Yoshi instantly swallowed them. I also identify with him more cause I get how it is to be the younger, taller, more awkward brother that kind of a scaredy cat. (I'm not atheletic for crap but that's something else). I went to play Mario 3 on the Virtual console because of how much people like it and I had the extra Wii points (remember those?) but I kinda got bored after a while so I reset the game and got the warp whistles to get to the 8th world and I still haven't beaten it and I'm at Bowser's castle (something about how I died at a point and just never went back. You guys know what I'm talking about right?) I did eventually emulate the advance port and sure enough I like being Luigi more and I still don't give the game the time of day. So to sum it all up for those who don't want to read or have and you coulda skipped it all (sorry late at night my mind tends to go into over drive) I like Mario World (Advance since I grew up with it) more than Mario 3, I like Luigi more than Mario, and I haven't finished the game despite being at the end.

Yeah same here I prefer Mario World over Mario Bros 3. I haven't gotten around to beating it legitimately, I've only beaten the Advance port of it via Warp Whistles.

My first Mario game was Super Mario All Stars for the SNES and of course I played the original before the others, but I still think my favorite Mario game will always be Super Mario 64. It's got amazing levels, beautiful music, a fantastic hub world, it's just so satisfying to play and beat. I love it more than Galaxy or Sunshine or any of the 2D games. It makes me really happy.

If you notice the ball pretty much fell all the way through Mario's sprite from top to bottom and had no effect, so it's not a matter of the ball just missing the hitbox. Once the piranha plant that is keeping it afloat is dead, the spike ball is no longer considered an active projectile and cannot hurt Mario. Sort of like how in some games if a projectile launched by a boss hits your sprite after you kill the boss, it doesn't hurt you. It's just the way the game is programmed.

"Can't talk, Smash demo!" *Sigh* Tomorrow, guys! Tomorrow! I sense E-Shop rape come midnight. That being said, I'm gonna defend Bowser Jr in both Smash and the Mario series. In Smash, he looks fun to play as, he had a unique moveset and you have the Koopalings as his alts. In the Mario series, I admit he didn't do much in the beginning but, come Galaxy 2, he become the "Dr Eggman" of the series, always fighting you with giant mechs which makes him a good contast to Bowser's other lieutenant, Kamek, who uses magic to fight Mario.

I'm with Ryan here, I hate the fact that Bowser Jr. was included in Smash 4 because I myself hate the little twat so much, but I actually do find his moveset to be quite unique & having the koopalings as alternate costumes for Bowser Jr. was a pretty nice touch for him. I'm going to honestly disagree about the precision thing for analog vs. button for speed control. I find it easier to deal with speed if I have it set to a button as with a button, I only have to press it down to maintain a different level of speed. It's like gear shifts on a motor bike, I find. I know that in gear one I'm going to get a specific speed, while in gear 2, I'll get a higher set. I don't have to worry about too much speed or too little if I'm going to be given that specific amount depending on the gear (In this case, whether or not the button is pressed down). All that leaves me is whether or not my positioning is good, and thus allows me higher precision, due to leaving more out of the equation for me to process. Of course this is just opinion and people sometimes work better with different controls in general, though I'd like to hear thoughts people have on the analog side of things.

I think the main reason they puy a run button in 3D world was because one of the play styles for the game was holding the Wii remote sideways. And since the Wii remote did not have an analog stick they just chose to have a run button and not have different running types for the other controllers.

The Koopalings were just generic Elite Mooks in Mario 3. They got names and were called Bowser's children by World. Cartoon gave them personality that the games ignored. Oh, a Bowser Jr V. Koopalings discussion? Don't mind if I do! Aesthetically? The ones who didn't already resemble Baby Bowser before Yoshi's New Island happened. Personality-wise and in terms of actually meaning something to the series? Actually Junior. He's practically the classic Eggman of the series: Always showing with a completely different fight. Even in NSMBDS where most of his fights are the same, he eventually hides in his shell. Not exactly groundbreaking, but compared to someone like Boom Boom or Reznor, that's an improvement. Is Junior bratty? Yes. But that's also ignoring his interactions with Bowser (and because of that one scene in Sochi Olympic Games, to an extent Metal Sonic) as well as Peach ("Mama Peach" aside) as well as the times where he is more business-like. Spin-offs like Mario Party DS or Mario Hoops do give us some implications as to Junior's personality. Meanwhile, aside from possibly Iggy, most of the Koopalings seem to be in a Dark Matter/Zero Two situation: Where fanon makes up for canon. In general though, having them co-exist is probably better than snubbing fans of one in favor of the other (I'm looking at you, Mario Kart 8) But, you guys probably won't read this.

ThatGuy9787 My thing is that Bowser Jr. serves basically the exact same purpose as all 7 Koopalings by himself, which doesn't bother me because the Koopaling are about as distinct as the Deadly Six in Sonic Lost World. The only complaint I guess I have with him functionally is that making him Bowser's single son does admittedly feel like a lazy way to explain his importance as opposed to being second-in-command by performance, persay.

papershadow69 It does feel lazy, but people have pointed out, it would seem like Bowser purposely passed over Ludwig (And pretty much every other Koopaling) in favor of Junior for who would get the throne despite the first-born inheriting it. Despite what people think, we have seen no reason to assume the Koopalings are antagonistic to Bowser Jr and vice versa. If Bowser passed them all over, well you can see the problem. That's the what I think anyway. That said, the Koopalings are apparently Bowser's proteges according to some sources and the RPGs show that Bowser has a fatherly relationship with his minions. They're implied to still be close to him. The Koopalings are starting to get fleshed out more between Smash and Mario Kart 8 and the New series gives them a home (unlike Galaxy which nicely contrasts Bowser's stages with Junior's) so they're better on their own merits than they were before. They've still got a way to go, but they're getting there.

Well Mesae, Boom boom isn't a character in ssb4. A bit too much momentum in SMB1? When you run in SMB1, you ARE the unstoppable force! Now for an opinion; I prefer having a designated run button. As Ted brought up (a bit poorly), SM64 had running over time, and at times that was annoying. Now, imagine a game like 3d land where precision platforming is actually a bit more precise; problems arise. Having a run button gives you the option when you need it, even if it's all the time. The best option would just be having both a run button and a toggle run button, allowing you to auto-run or manually run. Lastly: Admirable Starflower, dlc for smash u!
