I Ted's point of why it's a good idea to remake games people have fond memories of. My problem is that seems to be the only thing devs ever do because they know it's easy money. Rather than also remaking games that didn't do well.

If they remake 06 they should call it "Sonic 06 reimagined" or "Sonic 06 Finished", as after all it's only known as a terrible game because of the bugs and such that are easy to encounter otherwise it's a great speedrun game when you know where the bugs and pits in the floors are so you can avoid them. Of course the story is not that great but no one focuses on that and it writes itself out of existence anyways so who cares, if anything they can rewrite the part where he is being kissed by a human and just have her revive him without kissing. But i am sure people will be mad if you remove the kissing part as there are plenty of furries in the sonic community

I’m gonna be the odd person out and say that I actually love both Mephiles voices. Dan Green’s menacing baritone fit his colder personality in the 2006 English script, and Robbie Daymond’s take goes very well with the more over the top lines the character has here and the sheer desperation Mephiles has to kill Shadow and… exist. Plus, he literally sounds like Goro Akechi and I find that hilarious because (Persona 5 spoiler). And it would be remiss of me not to mention that Dan Green sadly retired from voice work a long time ago. On the subject of a 2006 remake, I think fans already proved that could be done and Sonic Team themselves should make a (mostly) original 2006-style game that is actually good on its own merits.

Pizza Tower and Undertale both had some substantial audience thanks to Toby Fox being known in the Earthbound scene and Pizza Tower being a SAGE demo that people were gravitating towards, they succeeded in part because those audiences blasted those games qualities out to others. While I don't know if any company would necessarily do it NOW at the sheer cost and risk, both Square Enix with FF14 and Ubisoft with Rainbow Six Siege released something to lukewarm sales that after lots of updates and work gained the success and audiences they have now. A shame Prince of Persia got the treatment it did but Ubisoft have been unkind to that IP for a while, I personally see no reason to get invested in a company so wishy washy with what is now a legacy IP.

Chaos Island. The stages themselves are okay, but I don’t like act 2’s music at all. It’s also hard to shake the feeling that it’s here for asset reuse. I honestly would’ve preferred Black Comet as a Doom Morph based level.

Why the fuck is Doom Morph designed like that? There’s being unintuitive, and then there’s working the opposite of how you should logically function.

The only reason why they're entertaining the idea of an 06 remake is because Silver hasn't appeared in enough mainline games to warrant a Silver Generations.

Also Ted. You mentioned sleeping in a coffin and all I got reminded of is when Breckin Meyer (the actor who played John in the live action Garfield movie) revealed in an interview that he had his dad build him a coffin for him to sleep in during his teenage years and that he also had sex in it.

The Shadow Generations trailer showcasing the Doom powers was also the first instance of the Supporting Me remix...that was when it had lyrics. And still, they were not present in the game proper. I love Maria’s contextualizing of Shadow’s name by saying “a shadow tell you where to find the light”, feels like a proper in-universe reason for why he was named as such and not just “he was designed as a classic 90’s anti-hero with an edgy name, doesn’t get any deeper than that”.

Honestly i think project 06 i all we need. Hell it and other fan games do thing Sega and sonic team are too cowardly to do. I feel other sonic games could do with remakes. Adventure games, Heroes, the strorybook games are good choices.

I love how they handled Mephiles here. As half of a being that can also control and destroy time, he's well aware that he was banished to a splinter time with no beginning or end, he's trapped in limbo, completely alone, not even having Iblis there with him. And the one being he probably hates more than anything else suddenly pops in due to the Time Eater fuckery, and he sees his one chance to return to the main timeline by killing Shadow. He's still hammy but an undercurrent of desperation and terror flows through it and comes to the surface in the final part of the fight, he desperately wants to escape and exist, and Shadow slams the door shut on him, forever. And Shadow doesn't even remember Mephiles, another massive blow to his already fractured psyche. Also, notice that you need FOUR keys to unlock the door to Mephiles instead of three. Even the timeline itself doesn't want him coming back.

Also, I own Superstars on the PS4. Again, not ashamed.

They could probably do SA1, SA2, and 06 remakes all in the same engine.

I believe someone (I sadly can't remember what this person goes by) made a rom hack of the original game to try and fix a lot of the issues people had with the game as a whole. Day to night transitions go by much faster (though I don't think they were all that slow in the original), and the hints for sure were actually hints this time. I'd honestly recommend that if anyone really wants to play Simon's Quest. Also 27:04 I kind of figured the woman at least was Mary Oldrey (Henry's mother from Cornell's story, as well as that woman who runs from the camera when you start up Legacy of Darkness before it transitions to the title screen). All I can say is, thank God grown up Henry never fights her because I can't imagine how much more trauma he'd have.

My hot take is that I do not like the EDM music in Sonic Frontiers. Nothing will ever touch Sonic Unleashed’s music. Ever. That soundtrack is fucking godly, and I pray another game even gets close to that shit.

The Sonic game I would love to see remade most is Heroes. I love the team mechanic as a concept, the overall aesthetic is what I consider the series' best, the soundtrack of course is fantastic, and the story of Metal Sonic rebelling against Eggman and becoming the big bad has a lot of potential. It's all just held back by the poor writing (despite that being a guilty pleasure of mine), inconsistent quality of voice performances, the controls, and the Chaotix story's tedious mission structure. Seeing how beautiful Rail Canyon looks in Shadow Gens and how Seaside Hill holds up visually in Sonic Gens is just reinforcing my desire for a Heroes remake.

Metal Overlord is my least favourite boss in Shadow Gens, but It’s fine once you know what to do. I love Shadow Gens’ story to pieces, but I wish Gerald sounded more distinct. I was kind of let down by his voice here.

Both acts of Sunset Heights in this game have infinitely better arrangements of its OST than the game it came from. Forces is aggressively mediocre but I don’t see it as an awful game, just a bland one that didn’t get to make use of its more interesting concepts.

The way I view Memphis Tennessee's personality shift is that in 06 he was this calculating puppet master who had literally eons to plan out his next moves. In this game, he's desperate with no time at all, he just need to get back in the timeline, and so his voice and personality reflect that.

Kingdom Valley is fantastic in Shadow Gens. That waterfall section especially is gorgeous. Sonic Team gave Black Doom and Mephiles what they needed in this game, stories that treat their inclusion with respect. I don’t like how the cupcake edit looks at all, but I am all for massively downplaying Yandere Amy, I mostly agree with Johnny when he says that people don’t remember how thick it got.

The don't look at the d*ath star, text box in Castlevania 2 was just as unhelpful in Japanese. It was originally a Fist of the North Star reference.

It's weird seeing Black Doom move so much. Dude was practically T posing in Shadow 05.

No time was spent on the actual boss fight but im just gonna say it, mephiles isnt just the best boss fight in Shadow gens its one of if not the best boss fight in the series. I will die on that hill. Also to bring up another game studio in the topic of unrealistic expectations and all that: Hi-Fi rush is a legitimate perfect video game, like a 10/10 everyone and their mother should play it. And Tango Games wanted to make a sequel, but Microsoft shut them down and that was so upsetting, luckily they got aquired by another company so hopefully that sequel happens.

I'm going to say this here. Whoever is playing this not using Chaos Control is bugging the shit out of me.
