There is no real canon in the Mario classic and NSMB platforming games. Miyamoto stated that he wants to avoid story in these games so he can have free reign to use any concepts and levels he wants without having to fear about retcons or such.

Opinions man/girl, opinions. We all know who you are referring to and you should just say her name. Despite controversy amongst the female (apparently) guests that show up here, but I for one never had a big problem with anyone who showed up on BSC, yes including Amanda. The girl has some learning to do here and there, but people will only get better by practicing. A couple of members/guests had a shaky start here at some point, and they all got better, some slower then others.

For a moment, I thought Masae was Amanda when she first spoke. Mind you, I think Amanda's fine, but there were times where you could tell she had "issues". The Shadow the Hedgehog commentary and the Smash Bros. direct impressions stream were two examples I can think of. As for Masae, I like her so far.

I have played this game on the original GB version since the year of 2006. But the good thing about the game on the original Game Boy Advance version is that if you're playing this game with two players, you can donate half of your lives to the other player, who has less than a few lives left. But of course, even though I have this game on the Wii version, like this one, but I really miss playing this game on the Game Boy version.

I would go to the beach and sit on the sand, just playing this game for hours on my Gameboy Advanced SP. EASILY one of my greatest memories as a child.

Ah, Super Mario Bros. 3... being a kid that was born freshly into the nineties (More Specifically in the Autumn of 1990) I was lucky enough to play this on the All-Star Pack at the age of three, soon to be four... this along with the other games on the All-Star Pack (Yes, that includes Lost Levels) and Super Mario World were part of the fondest memories of my early childhood of gaming.

Lewis the Gameboy Advance Sp actually had headphone capabilities. Nintendo just thought they should have their own special headset connection. The headphones would plug into where the charger would plug into.

Miyamoto pretty much shot down Mario ever having any canon by stating that Mario and the others are all stage performers who just play the parts they are given. His explanation for why Mario and Bower are enemies in one game then golfing in the next. Think Loony Toons or House of Mouse.

Super Mario Bros 3 came out in Japan in 1988. Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse came out in Japan in 1989. So we should blame Mario 3 for scrolling levels! Actually, I got the GBA version of Super Mario 3 when I was young. Played it on my DS Lite. Then hooked it up with the GBA adapter for the Gamecube. Played it a lot, and died a lot. Needless to say, I never made it past the desert world. And this is my entire experience of Super Mario Bros. 3, besides the Mario collection for Wii.

Oh hai guest commentator. (insert more Tommy Wiseauisms here) Brief tangent: I was planning on doing this game for my first Let's Play myself, but I ended up suffering the wrath of playing on actual hardware-- the game froze on me in the middle of world 6. Since I was playing the original NES version, there was no saving the game, so I just scrapped the raw files. I'll probably attempt a re-record someday soon.

Shigeru Miyamoto actually said once that he thinks that the Mario characters are actually actors that do different plays. That's why you the characters can sometimes be sworn enemies and sometimes be playing tennis or go-karting together
