In 2-1 when you death ray'd the multi-coin block you also hit a single coin block offscreen. From the optimal position like you had here and early on in 1-2 you get 182 coins from a multi-coin block. When shooting Bowser with the death ray, you get 1000 points in 200 point increments before getting the big 5000 from actually beating him. Not sure if that means it takes 5 hits or 6.

This mod reminds me of an old anime by the title "Digi Charat". One of the mains has the ability to produce beams from her eyes when she yells "Me Kara Biimu!" (Literal translation: "Beam from the eyes!") ... And now I can't help but imagine Mario going "Me Kara Beam-a!" Over and over during this playthrough. XD

in super metroid you get a gun weapon for the final boss called the hyper beam. it's super powerful and basically the same as this death ray mario. there was a game genie code for metroid that gave access to the hyper beam and it was possible to start with the most powerful weapon in any metroid game. the beam was able to kill ridley in the beginning - a boss battle that was supposed to trigger it's end when the player was nearly out of life energy - after ridley was defeated the game would just sit there forever waiting for the player (samus) to be drained of energy. this video reminded me of the hyper beam. the game was very fun to complete with it.

5:40 it wasn't that you did it longer, the way that the Mario games were coded, when you're inside of a wall that you shouldn't be in, its programed to make you go the opposite direction of the direction your facing/ button you're holding. You pressed rite just before he made it, making him face right, making him go left back out and the wall (pipe)
