If I'm correct, it looks like all the background tiles here try to stick to the actual NES colour limitations, which is actually a decent demonstration of what you could also do on SNES in Mode 0 and have four fully-overlapping parallax layers like this (although SNES can actually do more even within the limitations of Mode 0, such as way more colours per layer and overall in the backgrounds, transparency effects, and smooth background gradients, etc). And that's still alongside the full colour SNES quality sprites that you always have as standard regardless of background mode. When the fully exploited backgrounds were combined with the sprites like this, I think you could create a SNES game with some stunning parallax effects and that wouldn't actually look obviously like it was in "NES" mode at all.

@@KaaosGameplays thats the plan! with a complete tutorial i will have no issues, thanks! thanks to google i found the old Mari0 game as well that this is based on i presume. have not finished the process tho. also you should see if you can find more map packs. blue telvision gamer recently found something called Ultra mario bros. sadly i think its missing a few levels in world 8 based on my check of the files.
