I love that this mod takes the OG level designs and remixes them, while also adding new features from other games, like what Sonic Mania did. If this had Star Coins and the option to have each level smoothly transition to the next with no breaks, it would be even better

⁠Imagine they made a “casual mode” and “original mode” for this. Casual mode having a world map, toad house power-up minigames, and star coins replacing 10 coins, while original mode has the timers, highscore points, and each stage more smoothly transitions to the next like in Sonic Mania

I wish more games would utilise pixel art like this! You can have it in an 8 or 16-bit style, but without the limitations, and make a beautifully unique art style! I also love how the castle theme turns into heavy metal, haha.

I like how this takes a lot of inspiration from Mario Maker. From it's Athletic, Airship and bonus theme to the statues from its SMB 1 castle levels. And the remixes are amazing! Seriously, it's great.

funnily, the bonus room theme is from the arcade game Vs Super Mario Brothers, where it plays as the scoreboard screen. it's also in the 1986 anime movie adaptation

6:39 Aah I hoped so much it was Bowser Battle 1 from All-Stars. Just as faithful to Super Mario Maker 2 here too, I see. Hopefully there's a way to mod music in so I can use the great version done by Tater-Tot Tunes. The track may be short, but look at how short the fight is. Makes perfect sense why. Also got to mod in his excellent Boss Battle 2 as well for the final fight. That being said, no other criticisms. Great work here.

To me mario is an alright game but holy crap this mod is insane, it looks like it took inspiration from sonic 3 with the way the setting transitions to another setting and different variations of the music, as for the additional background props and mechanics, it kind of reminds of me of sonic mania with the reimagined backgrounds and bringing old and newly created mechanics to certain stages that would fit them

This is... a very interesting fan project to me. The visuals are really something. The art is really well done and feels just perfect. And there's a lot of levels here with really interesting visuals, like the broken castle, and the one castle that starts with you outside it, and the one desert level with the goomba statues. Really cool ideas. I also really respect how the Superball Flower is only introduced in World 6. A lot of the time I feel like fangames that introduce new powerups rush to introduce them all as quick as possible and it just makes it feel... wrong. Here, the devs clearly had restraint and saved it for later in the game to keep things fresh. I really respect that. But, like... the actual level design here kind of. blows. It's kind of nonsensical. And, like, I get it, it's SMB1, and a lot of SMB1's levels are kind of nonsensical as is, but... this isn't exactly SMB1. a lot of new enemies and stuff are added here. All the level designs are heavily remixed and adjusted, even if they sometimes echo their original counterparts. The devs certainly had room here to make the levels more... focused? Like.. Take 7-1 as an example. The level starts with koopa troopas and bullet bills. Easy enough. Then we have some phirana plants, which can still work. Then we have a buzzy beetle. Okay. And more bullet bills, which were already introduced earlier. Then we have hammer bros out of nowhere, then some more pihranas, then more hammer bros, then more bullets, And then out of nowhere there's donkey kong barrels for no reason, then more hammer bros, then out of literally nowhere there's just a blue snake block that's used to cross one gap, and then the flagpole. What? Where's the focus in all of this? Why were barrels spontaneously introduced? Why were there both koopas and buzzy beetles? Why were hammer bros just kinda thrown in there out of nowhere near the middle of the level? A lot of the levels are like this. They sometimes have recurring elements, but also just... spontaneously introduce a new mechanic or enemy for no reason and don't care to elaborate on them at all. Like, take 1-3 as another example. After the checkpoint, we have a simple challenge with a blue lift and a balance lift. This would, in a well put together level, suggest we'll see more of those later in the level, since they're being introduced right after the checkpoint, which is around where the "Twist" in a nromal mario level would be. Except... neither the blue lifts or the balance platforms are used anywhere else in the level! So why are they here? The whole game is like this. It just kind of feels like the devs had a bunch of tools in their toolbox and threw them all into levels fairly halphazardly using SMB1 as a guide. Which is really unfortunate... The best level in the game by far is 7-2. It kinda loses itself with random firebars and goombrats, but if you replaced the firebars with podobo challenges and the goombrats with the fly enemies, it'd actually be a pretty consistent and focused level. Overall, I really like the visuals and presentation here, but the level design leaves a lot to be desired.

I only played the PC version. To insert the mappack, do the following procedure: After extracting all files , you'll have a folder named the same thing as that .rar. Go into that folder (it's a few deep before you see anything) until you see the Credits.txt. Here, you'll also see two other folders that are "characters" and "smb_reimagined." THIS folder, "smb_reimagined," is the ONLY folder you should copy to your mappacks folder (which is located under %appdata%/Roaming/Mari0). AND FOR THE CHARACTERS FOLDER: go into the game settings (in-game) and you'll see it says to press M to open your characters folder. Drop the contents of the included characters folder into this folder.

hey figured id let you know. there is a map pack called ultra mario bros. BTG played it. i sadly dont know where to watch to keep an eye on its progress. as i think its missing the final worlds in world 8.

Olá. Vou lhe explicar o procedimento para versao de PC, que foi a que eu joguei. Primeiramente, baixe o jogo base pelo link do site do criador que esta na descriçao. E para inserir esse Mapa que eu joguei no video faça o seguinte: abra o jogo, vá até a opçao "Select MapPack" (movimentando com as setas ou com o proprio mouse). Depois de escolher essa opçao vc vai ver que do lado direito estará escrito "Open MapPacks Folder", entao escolha essa opçao e vai abrir a pasta onde vc deve inserir os mapas do jogo. Entao, vc vai precisar do arquivo que eu coloquei no comentario fixado. Baixe esse arquivo (que é o MapPack) e descompacte ele até vc chegar numa pasta onde existem duas subpastas. A subpasta chamada "smb_reimagined" vc deve colar dentro da pasta "mappacks" que vc abriu anteriormente. Se vc quiser adicionar os personagens entao vc precisa copiar a outra subpasta chamada "characters" e colar dentro da pasta chamada "alesans_entities".

Yes, someone else made the same comment. I honestly hadn't noticed xd, but this problem really happens. It's not something that hinders the gameplay, but it is aesthetically uncomfortable, I would say. It may be possible to adjust this in the game editor.

Hi :) Yes, it works with a controller. You need to map your controller in the game's settings, as I showed in this custom skins tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5-mkKasat9_hZY But if your controller is not being recognized I suggest you use the program called JoyToKey. how do i play the mappack? I put the zip in every possible folder but it never shows up in alesans entities, please make a guide, theres no information available and it makes no sense!

After extracting all files , you'll have a folder named the same thing as that .rar. Go into that folder (it's a few deep before you see anything) until you see the Credits.txt. Here, you'll also see two other folders that are "characters" and "smb_reimagined." THIS folder, "smb_reimagined," is the ONLY folder you should copy to your mappacks folder (which is located under %appdata%/Roaming/Mari0.). AND FOR THE CHARACTERS FOLDER: go into the game settings (in-game) and you'll see it says to press M to open your characters folder. Drop the contents of the included characters folder into this folder.

Uh, I have Mari0 and the mod, but when I put it in modpacks it don't work! It was already unzipped too!

First open the game by clicking on the Mario icon that was created on your Desktop. Then click "select mappack" and then click "open mappacks folder". Now enter the folder called "mappacks" and paste the Super Mario Bros Reimagined map pack inside it. After that, close and open the game again and the Super Mario Bros Reimagined pack will appear in the “Local” tab.

I have the alesan99s_entities_13.1 (application), the folder Super Mario Bros. Reimagined folder in same folder as the application. And another folder mpg123-1.32.3 in there also. Whenever I double click the aleson99 app it doesn't do anything. I can only think I don't have the folders in their correct places. I tried to search online for how these files should go but I could never find anything, and I don't see any 'instructions' file in anything I downloaded.

Well, to play, you just need to unzip the game folder downloaded from the official Alesan99's Entities website and then run the application. The game should be working independently of MapPack. And no matter where the game folder is, it should open. Here, for example, I leave it in the downloads folder and create an application shortcut on the desktop.@@Sutoraida1975

@@KaaosGameplays Turns out Comodo was sandboxing it, but not leaving it listed as a sandboxed item. I had to catch it while the (sandbox) list was open, then tell Comodo to not sandbox it. 😡🤦‍♂ Anyway, thanks for your replies!
