The fact I looked at this and thought "this is something that could actually be made as a Super Mario 64 mod" goes to show just how far Mario 64 ROM hacks have come. I mean sure, it's a Galaxy one, but somehow like Kaze could probably make something like this now, and somehow have it run on an actual N64. Either way, amazing job! It looks exactly like Mario Galaxy would look like as an N64 mod (or Mario 64 ROM hack).

What did Galaxy 2 do that the previous Mario Games didn't? It was pretty much an expansion of Galaxy 1. Now that's not a bad thing, like I said Galaxy 2 is an amazing game, although it brought nothing new to the table and did what Galaxy 1 did and added a fuck ton on new level mechanics into the mix, which is really cool and there's literally a new idea around every corner, although that doesn't make it an important game. It doesn't make it a landmark in Mario History. It's just an amazing sequel to an amazing Mario game that is a landmark to Mario History. Why is Galaxy 1 a landmark in Mario History and not Galaxy 2? Because 1 did something new and original and totally mindblowing. Galaxy 2 didn't. Galaxy 2 just got was 1 had and added more ideas.

@@MustacheOnMars9 That's all well and good, and I completed Galaxy 2 100% as well; but I will argue the opinion that omitting Galaxy 2 from 3D All-Stars & not acknowledging it is a pretty scummy move on Nintendo's part. The limited availability of 3D All-Stars, its $60 price tag, the lack of features & customization/puzzling control schemes (and Galaxy 2 being left out), and the lazy emulation are very frustrating, especially compared to the original Super Mario All-Stars which was very well done and had a lot of polish. Whether you call Galaxy 2 significant or not, I think Nintendo left it out of that Direct because they were trying to divert attention away from their leaving it out of 3D All-Stars. Look at other contemporary classic remake collections like Crash Bandicoot, and they have way more bang for their buck. So it's not the end of the world that Galaxy 2 isn't in 3D All-Stars, but it certainly does signify to me that Nintendo is engaging in cheap business practice.

It never fails to amaze me whenever I see SM64 modded into modern Mario how close the movement looks to the actual SM64. It really speaks to the prestige of the control scheme and how incredible it is that they managed to hit the mark so early in Mario’s career and how little they’ve deviated from the basic formula since then.

@@CYBER_N0T the model recreation for the outfit is unnecessary because they cloudve ripped it from the og game or downloaded And their excuse on the innacurate model is that it fits more the rig of normal odyssey default model but if you compare the odyssey 64 outfit,og model and odyssey default on blender you can notice that sm64 og model fits more than the recreation except in the legs length but 90% fits while odyssey recreation is 10% I liked the idea of an 64 outfit but the execution is real cringe

This is amazing....but why was the 64 Outfit from Odyssey used instead of Mario's actual model from SM64? Got so much right with even regular objects having SM64 models...but then the most important model for the video isn't using the right model despite being easy to find online. "We were on the verge of greatness, we were _this_ close!" For anyone who doesn't know the differences between the model from SM64 & Odyssey, here's a few: Colors are darker, eye textures are different, back of the hair is wrong, and proportions are wrong with his head being huge.
