With the mod you can also press minus (-) on the Wiimote to revert back to 3rd person. So you can switch back and forth on the fly. Mario will be invisible though, so you'll have to navigate by the dust he brushes up under his feet.

While playing in first-person you can also manually pull back the camera to where you want it, with Dolphin VR's freelook camera. You can set this by going to "Options" at the top of Dolphin VR's window and selecting "Hotkey Settings". Set "Freelook, up, down, left, right, zoom in, zoom out and freelook reset to whatever you want on your keyboard. Then just tap that key you set for whatever direction for continuously, in whatever direction you want and the camera will move forward, backward, up, down, left or right. If you mess up just hit freelook reset to reset the camera.

And if you don't want the first person view and want to play the game normally in VR, just find and download the normal ISO and your good.
