I personally think Odyssey’s movement is way more enjoyable. But Galaxy is more inspired, has better music and is all around a more fun experience. I think odyssey is overall the better game, but galaxy is much more likeable.

I think odyssey is better than galaxy not just because of the power ups and controls but also because of the level design it is a lot more linear in galaxy but in odyssey it is more sandbox style which I prefer for a 3d mario game but Galaxy still has a better soundtrack and hub world then odyssey.

Power Up and Levels style are the main reason why Odyssey has no replayability. The game is too easy, you are forced do use boring enemyes to advance in the level, realms are small and most of theme boring. The Moons system is a big let down. Moons are not satisfying to collect and there are to many Moon in a little realm. Controls are good, soundtrack is not memorable except for cascade kingdome and jump up super star. The game is also too short: like 80% of the game are the post game boring moon's.

I think Odyssey is the best Nintendo game of all time, didn't like galaxy that much. Although I get why it is a great game to many people, it just didn't catch me. I loved the variety and wide worlds in Odyssey plus the opportunities to discover quite a lot. It is not a perfect game but to me at least close to perfect.

I personally prefer super Mario Odyssey just for one reason. Their levels are open world. In galaxy you can only get the star you selected and there is only one path in each star. If galaxy were made with open world levels like odyssey or Mario 64 it would've been my favorite

I have finished Odyssey with all the possible moons that you can get (googling the stupid guessing pictures was not fun) and I don't really feel like playing it ever again. I would replay Galaxy 1 or 2 any day. I really do hope they will consider going back to the Galaxy formula maybe refining it a bit. I gave up on Sunshine barely into it and have finished 64 maybe 2 or 3 times. So its kinda scary where Mario will go from here. Bowser's Fury while a very great expansion to 3D World still is using Odyssey's formula.

For these types of comparison videos, most of the time people choose the newer game, so most people would prefer Odyssey. Personally, I prefer Galaxy because of its sense of scope, traveling through a star system as opposed to different places on just one world

For me Odyssey was fine but what kind of bothers me is that it’s not mission based like other mainline Mario games. It just has almost no replay value. Even the Galaxy games kind of lack replay value for me but they are mission based and thus they have a little more replay value than Odyssey. While Odyssey may be a bit boring for others, some of the worlds are well designed due to how realistic they are, even if they’re not as creative as previous Mario games.

I just started playing Mario odyssey and it’s a good game but definitely more for kids. It is good that kids now can grow up with such a beautiful and fun game. I’m 25 though so if I was way younger I’d enjoy odyssey more, it’s still fun though with the best Mario graphics I have ever seen. But in my opinion, it still doesn’t compare to my top 4 Mario games that I grew up with: Mario Sunshine, galaxy 1 & 2, and Mario 64. Those will always be my favourite Mario games ever. I got 3d all stars too and still had more fun with Sunshine, galaxy and Mario 64 again in 3d all stars than with odyssey so far. But odyssey is still really good, just not as good at those ones in my opinion

Ok people will hate me for saying this but I don’t think odyssey is all that great, I think it’s more like a mid tier 3D Mario ranking but it’s not a bad game it’s a solid one, odyssey is one of Nintendo’s most overrated games, especially with the worlds, they all have 4 problems, difficulty, forgettable music depending which one, the worlds feel to small, the worlds will feel stale after all moons are collected and I don’t like that. As for controls I will agree they do feel better than galaxy but there is no hard core difficulty put to it like those hard times galaxy can be, But I’ll still give it credit for the capture idea, boss fights even tho some are a bit lame, wonderful graphics, at least not being a flop like sonic forces, and balloon world In my ranking of 3D Marios 1. Galaxy 2 2. 3D world 3. Galaxy 4. Sunshine 5. Odyssey 6. 64 7. 3D land 8. 64 DS 9. Bowser’s fury And I will agree Rosalina doesn’t look like a god tier waifu but Mario kart, tennis, golf, and olympics tho cmon

Man i dont care when i say that super mario odyssey is not even close to being as good as galaxy or sunshine for that reason, each world felt very bland and boring, they tried to hard to fuse semi realism with mario but it just doesn't hit right and yes i know that the og mario bros was kind of semi realistic aesthetic wise and art but leave the semi realism too sonic imo, odyssey most definitely did not hit me as hard as galaxy did.
