I have very fond memories of this game and have played through it again recently but it's such a different feel to play it in colour after all these years. I played this game when it was fresh new. I remember that I was so obsessed on finding a secret exit in Mario zone just becase all the other zones had at least one. Wasted a ton of AA batteries and realized much later when the internet era kicked in, there wasn't a damn secret after all. Good ol' days!

That's pretty much the rule for every Mario game, no tutorials, you just learn everything on the first level (except 3D games like 64 and Odyssey because those are more complex with their mechanics)

Fun playthrough! You obviously enjoyed this. I was hoping you ran across the visual glitch in Pumpkin Zone 3 emerge all the blocks change. The blinking blocks are rearranged, and if they're in the wrong place, you just go through them. Same with spikes, etc.!

It's based on Zelda Link's Awakening DX, that sure had some colors, the thing is that most games on the Gameboy that worked on the GBC weren't made with color in mind, so the GBC would just throw some color filters there and done, games like (again) Link's Awakening DX were made with color in mind, which is why it looks more colorful
