Booster is like my favorite part. The whole thing is so wacky and the character so strange, i couldn't guess what the game would do next ! Square was really incredible during that period... And there is so much stuff like being disguised as a gold statue to escape the big bird prince checking ! I think only Superstar Saga ( and only this one unfortunately ) could capture that wackiness. ( Paper Mario always had a more "serious" sense of humor that comes more from the script itself. I appreciate too nevertheless but it's different)

While I am a big Geno fan (cries in impossible Smash Bros dreams), the game around him is kind of necessary for his success. I don't think anyone would remember Geno if he didn't have a fantastic world and game built around him. I used to play through it once a year, I should get back in the habit. When I was a kid my siblings and I would pass around the controller and play together, it's a very important memory. Also INCOMING REMAKE LET'S GO

the thing about that background that i love so much, is that when you analyse it, you ask more questions. the fact that the floor is made out of Smithy heads, and that there is a bigger Smithy head staring at you, is kinda creepy as it suggests that Smithy was either mechanically constructed, or that Smithy wasn't the true final boss

Smithy needs to make a comeback. When I first played this game I thought Exor the sword was the final boss but boy was I surprised when I entered the final dungeon of the game.

The existence of his hand gun always implied to me some secret, unknown link between him and geno (or the star spirits) in some fashion. Geno is almost exactly what smithy was creating- toy like weapons of war. Except whatever geno is just possessed a doll and turned it into a weapon, whereas smithy created the weapons himself. There is so much potential for a Mario rpg 2 here…

@@superrickybros4367 Same here at least until the Culex fight, then I replaced Bowser with Toadstool for the rest of the game. (I beat Exor before fighting Culex. That and with Bowser and Geno I was able to beat the wind and earth crystals with a boatload of save states, but couldn't beat the other two crystals and Culex himself.)

Exor (the sword) crashes into Bowser's Keep which in turn rapidly invades the mushroom kingdom. What this represents (at least for me) a sudden and drastic change in the world felt by all. The inhabitants of the Smithy Gang look and act otherworldly from the Mushroom Kingdom, even their goals are strange and otherwordly for the Mushroom Kingdom. Smithy's minions are able to usurp and secure power within the Realm in a very short time, they rule over the citizens with emotions of fear, anger, dispair, guilt etc. Mario finds different (and questionable?) allies along the journey who share his ambiton. To restore hope and dreams back to Mushroom Kingdom. When they arrive in Smithy's world they find it is a void of oblivion. In this void there are strange monsters and gigantic factories manufacturing tools and weapons of war. Going into the heart of this strange factory is no other than Smithy himself! Smithy (to me at least) is the result of the manifestations of what anger, fear, paranoia, war leads to. Clearing up your inner head of these thoughts, trusting and loving yourself is the key to defeating Smithy

Even though this comment was 3 months ago. I believe Smithy was planning on mass producing himself, rather than being several prototypes. Kind of how he made the 3 true members of the smithy gang, Bowyer, Yardiovich, and Mack. But in this area, you can find machine-made, mass-produced versions of them. Basically, Smithy might've been getting ready to do the same, to either help conquer other worlds, or take over Mario's in record time. Either that, or he was struggling with developing his incredibly morphable head. Which to be fair, for even a master smith as him, could be incredibly difficult to perfect. After all, each head has its own special properties.

My personal head canon on Smithy was that he was a cosmic entity unknown to the Mushroom Kingdom. An eldritch abomination or Cuthulu type Outer God. His factory was in a different dimension inside Exor after all. Maybe it was why Culex was found in the monster village also? Because he was drawn to Smithy's power? He was the only other being lore wise who might be just as powerful if not more. Also remember that Smithy was so powerful that even poor Bowser was out of his league on his own without Mario's help in that game.

Mad theory time guys: Professor E. Gadd is Smithy in disguise. Think about it,both are affiliated with machines and E.Gadd has made a few weapons during his lifetime. Like for example, Fludd. And the Poltergust. And his own personal weaponized vehicle in Mario party 5. Not to mention, his party minigames could just be a way to analyze his enemies before he reveals his deceit. And he might also be helping his enemies solely for the purpose to rid himself of the competition for world conquest. Atleast, that's what I think.
