Super Mario RPG is about to be released on the Nintendo Switch and as it's one of our favorite games we compare the 2023 release to the 1996 SNES Super Mario RPG via Nintendo Wii U capture. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars 1996 vs 2023 is a drastic upgrade, but it would seem that Nintendo has taken a lot of care to update it in a way that honors the original. Goodness gracious, in a span between April 1994 and January 1997, Square released, among other titles, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG and Final Fantasy VII. That's just an incredible run.

Le travail sur le remake est dantesques et splendide. Imaginez vous qu'il y'a des heures accomplie pour arriver à ce resultat . J'y ai joué jadis mais pas accroché car il n'était pas en version sous titré... Dommage qu'a cette lointaine époque la france pour certains éditeurs comptait pour du beurre . Et en revenant sur les améliorations du remake tout est gigantesque et incomparable avec l'original excusez moi .😮😊

Too bad this game didn't got a sequel back in the day because Nintendo broke their relationship with Square. Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi are great series, but SMRPG is something special and timeless

Not really. This is not the best comparison, a lot of enemies have new animations. It is true that less frames in animations makes things have more oomph depending though.

Nope. It's harder in ways. There are special enemies that are way harder that randomly appear, and the timed hits were generally made different and harder to trip up old-comers. Do not write this remake off without playing it lol

@@JeanKP14 Well, looking at the comparison video, enemies seem to take more damage, and attacks deal splash damage for no apparent reason. Also hearing new mechanics like Triple Attacks and Chain make the game too easy.
