Once again, I felt really bad I couldn't be here live after how long I've pushed for this game. So glad your finally reacting to it, though, Yoko Shimomura is fantastic, she's a legend among video game composers for good reason! Edit: 9:06 - Nobuo Uematsu worked on Super Mario RPG? That's literally the first I've heard of something like that. Like, all the music was done Yoko Shimomura, and while there were 3 tracks that were technically from Final Fantasy IV, Yoko Shimomura basically remade them from scratch. The extent of Uematsu's involvement was literally someone else taking his work and applying it to this game... similarly, Shimomura remade several iconic Koji Kondo Mario pieces for this game as well.

1:28:20 the scene in the game where that music plays is adorable, too. Probably one of the biggest reasons Geno is so popular.
@arturoaguilar600211 ай бұрын
Because it was a join project between Nintendo and Square-Enix (back then Squaresoft), there might be some of their other RPGs sensibilities (like the boss music being an epic banger). Some context: *Happy Adventure, Delightful Adventure* played during an intro montage that made the character's roll call and teased some fun places and memorable scenes from the game (it was something Squaresoft also did with Chrono Trigger and its main theme for SNES btw, and later ports replaced it with an anime version of the montage and the orchestral version of the theme). *In the Flower Garden* was for the actual intro; one of the shortest but most to the point intros ever. That *Fight Against Bowser* is based on the Super Mario 3's Bowser battle music. Hey, something funny in Mario RPGs is that there is often a pretty early battle against Bowser; and it can end either way (in some games you win, in others you lose). *The Sword Descends and the Stars Scatter* happens during a cutscene that shows game's title, pretty much signaling "now the real story starts here". That's something Squaresoft did with some Final Fantasy titles too (you started playing and reached a point where the game says "that was just the preamble, the real story starts here", usually with the Final Fantasy theme) Right after the part where *Let's Go Down the Wine River* plays constantly, it keeps playing with a faster tempo (play the piece at 1.25x speed and you'll hear how it sounded like). It's funny how the piece goes from happy to frantic by just cranking the tempo up a bit. *Heart Beating a Little Faster* is based on the BGM used in the cards minigames from Super Mario 3

The melody of the Mushroom Kingdom theme is very similar to the Honey Bee Inn theme's melody from FF7, that might've been why you swore you heard it before.

Oddly, it reminds me of Gold Saucer from FFVII. Also, the overworld theme from Adventures in the Magic Kingdom for NES (which was an early Shimomura work)
@AdamW-eo2yqАй бұрын
@@MariusBoss11458It might had been because Yoko Shimomura’s inspiration at the time was Uematsu as they were both at Square. She more than likely heard a lot of his music and they more than likely would compare music between composers when composing for their own respective games (he probably made the other square musicians listen to the FF4 soundtrack and give ideas and feedback and vice versa

No it isn’t. Saturn Valley goes up and down from A to E, Hello Happy Kingdom goes down and up between F and C. It’s the same interval, but different keys, different chords, and different bass lines. They only have a passing similarity in sharing a waltz / polka influence.

1:00:00 i just realized the star theme here is also present in the wing cap theme in mario 64. i wonder where it really came from.

SM64 wing cap theme is a remix of the Starman (invincibility) theme from Yoshi’s Island. Pretty sure that’s the first appearance of this motif but I could be wrong

And My Name's Booster kinda sounds like the "bring out the gimp!" scene in Pulp Fiction. That brings up a lot of disturbing mental pictures. Bowser is Marcellis Wallace in the mental picture, in case you weren't wondering and now hate me for putting that picture in _your_ head.
