When this game came out I was 5. I remember watching my dad play it and having a go myself. I got the odd shine but the mechanics of this game were waayyyyy too hard for a 5/6 year old. I remembered the sandbird level my entire life as I must’ve tried it over and over again but never completed it - I didn’t even know there was a tower it was circling because I never got past when the bird goes on it’s side. The other day my mum sent me a package with some Christmas presents in (I haven’t been able to go home due to lockdown in the UK). In the box was Super Mario 3D Allstars. Tonight I played it for the first time trying out Sunshine. And tonight, as a 24-year-old, I finally beat the level, two decades later! I am finally at peace!

@@undisclosedsteve6361 Use isopropyl alcohol to fix your joycon drift. Angle the stick in the opposite direction of where you're cleaning and use a qtip soaked in isopropyl alcohol at the base of it. Might have to do it a couple times, but it works amazingly. Just be careful cause the alcohol can wear down the color on the joycon itself if it gets on it too much.

For anyone here who struggles with this Shine because of the Sand Bird's tendency to flip over: you know how, when you're on the spray nozzle, and Mario is only able to run from side to side when you've got your view set? Stand on the Sand Bird's neck, and just gradually make Mario walk to the side. Nice and slow. Bam, perfect transition.

RainbowFalcon8 When the blocks are at 45º, both faces are walkable. To avoid falling, I used to wait for the signal (shriek and flapping) then I went to the head and slowly walked from the top to the edge to the side of the block while checking the angle as the bird turned. Not too hard actually.

Mini games in the game are complete bullshit. Coupled with Mario being as easy to control was someone with no legs and one arm "walking" a tightrope, this game gets you pissed. I love it, but I also hate it at the same time. The music doesn't help when you're angry either.

If anyone is struggling with this just a nice note: you’d be surprised how efficiently mario walks on a tilting platform. Like i reccomend just walking onto the other side rather than water hovering cause mario works weird in this game and cubes are not like 90* when they rotate or something like that. Idk if that makes sense?

Around fifteen tries or less and I finally completed it on the same day! It's not too bad if you know how to hang onto the bird while it's tilted, but going after those blue coins or regular coins and you're in for a bad time... As for me, depth perception kept fucking me up and I was using a pro controller, so input latency on sandy platforms constantly shifting is NOT a good time!

Go to the bottom of the mountain where the slide is and the brown dude with glasses will throw you up where you need to slide down, so much quicker to get there especially if you don’t make the jump

Okay so the Legendary Sand Bird was honestly cool??? I don't think people know that you can STAND on the clouds that pass by for as long as you want and just wait for the sand bird to come back, cuz it always loops back around. Also a cute lil thing is that you can make the clouds bigger by spraying water on them, since clouds are made up of water, that's cool.

@@mineclon2129 I've experienced one glitch. Go down any pipe and touch a durian. Even if you touch the durian lightly, it will always register as a strong kick. This makes it very difficult to get that one blue coin! Thankfully, just don't go down the pipe and your durian bunting will be fine.
