I've seen a youtube video that explains that Wonder seems more like an _actual_ *"Super Mario Land 3",* as the existing GB title is really _just_ *"Wario Land 1".* Also, the author, once the whole fan game is completed, should consider porting it to the NES for real, making it a rom image for emulation. Then, maybe, someone could make a hack of it to fully recreate the _actual_ "Super Mario Bros. Wonder". EDIT - I just realized; your comment would make *more* sense if you said this game should've be the Japanese SMB 2, instead of the game that Japan got (just SMB 1 with 13 more 4 level worlds, harder layouts, and devious new additions). I am *not* refering to the American SMB 2 that used to be "Doki Doki Panic". The way I see it, Nintendo should've just released JSMB2 as an addon for SMB1, and released *this* game as SMB2. What do you think?

for me, its the small things. like the way the screen flickers instead of actually going transparent when you get the wonder flower, or that small mario has black eyes but big mario has both white and black eyes, similar to how it was done in smb2 (they actually used a 2nd sprite for the white in mario's eyes)

Mario's sprites started out (in the first video) using moves from how Mario looked in SML2. Then I started using SMW movements. He previously looked like SMB3, which can still be seen in a frame during the moment he is growing with the mushroom and also in an old art I made for SMB Wonder, where I started the animation that now became this fan game. But yes, it's a technique I found to awaken nostalgia along with the intention of being a Super Mario Land for SMB Wonder. Because SML2 is the continuation of SMW for those who don't know. I hope you enjoyed playing.

i tried playing this and i have to say, for what it is, i like it a lot. i have issues with the physics (mainly how floaty and slippery it feels) but i'm not expecting anything perfect. i enjoyed a lot of what i played and i'm glad that you wanted to give us a demo

I've already updated one of Mario's physics. I placed it with a similar slide to the SMW but removed it because it affected the common movement. So I inserted the same one as in my SMB3 version, which apparently didn't affect anything and it looked cool. It still slides, just not as much. But what would the floaty be like? Also in the second update it is now possible to get "Secret Points" by combining hud numbers with the number of worlds and levels. But something will only happen at specific levels. Similar to SMB1 fireworks. Thanks for playing!

Its from Buzz & Waldog, Dragon Scroll, Rampart (by Konami), Donald Duck Mahou no Boushi, SMB Wonder and also SMW. Some musics I tried to compose myself. I'm not a composer so I just added some random notes. I'm only good at remaking musics.

It has been corrected! Thanks for the feedback. I tried to put a sliding Mario like SMW but this affected his common movements when turning. So I inserted the same thing I programmed for my SMB3 and it actually worked. It's still a little slippery, but much more faithful to the original this time. And in the same update I added "secret points" that can be made by combining Mario's life numbers and coins with the level and world number. Only specific levels work. It's similar to what happens with the fireworks in SMB1. And in addition, I made some improvements to the levels to make them easier. Thanks for playing!

If it were possible to export to devices other than a PC I would do it, but I don't know. Whoever made "Mario 4 Jugadores (Mario 4 Players)" fan game for mobile must know some technique because the game uses the same source engine (Hello Engine) that I used in my Game Maker. But I don't particularly know how to do that.

If I ever get into NES programming, I'd like to make an actual ROM of this. This whole thing looks very faithful to the NES's limitations, which I think is very cool.

The full demo is possible on an NES. As for the entire game, I still don't know. But I've already seen a fan play an image from a clip using an NES and this made the game weigh more than 50 MB. So I could be wrong about the game not being possible because there are people who know how to program very well on the NES and surprises can happen. If I'm not mistaken, the game with the clip was called "Bad Apple" is a homebrew.

probably, but you'd probably have to remove a bunch of the wonder flower segments, unless you reused a bunch of sprites and stuff. also that "wonderful" literally couldnt exist unless it'd be HEAVILY distorted to the point you cant even hear mario say it.

@@camohere For some of the wonder effects, they would need to be scaled back or have added sprite flickering, but the one at the beginning of the video with the moving pipes doesn't seem farfetched at all. Just use sprites for the top of the pipes that are moving, and then tiles for the parts of the pipes not moving. Regarding the repetition of the music, is it without the intro? If so, it's on purpose because Game Maker 8.1 can't loop music from a specific point. I have to do this manually by separating the music's intro into one file and the continuation into another, which is a bit annoying to do. As for Wonder Flower, this will be corrected during the new demo or final version.

The way I found to avoid problems with big N if the company doesn't likes it. I didn't want to but it's the only way. New Donkey Kong Jr just isn't temporary like this because it's a less relevant game. SMB NES and SMB Wonder remain relevant for the company.

I even thought about just releasing the game when complete, but that would take too long. So I opted for demos. This will also allow people to learn more about the project and even test a little of the engine and source that I used for Super Mario Advance 5. Mario was hit by the train. In these old versions of demo 1, when being hit by the train, Mario is immediately hit twice in a row. I removed this in future versions. The train is the same object as the giant ball in the previous level (2-2). These share the same object! I just needed to divide the functions of when Mario touches the object.
