A mere 3 minutes off the WR in a marathon. Incredible.

While that sounds close, that's actually a pretty wide difference. Most world records are off by a matter of seconds.

While I am not the biggest super Metroid fan, I absolutely adore watching speed runs of it. The air game, the movement, the paths they choose, everything just feels so right, especially in 100% runs. That being said, is it appropriate it to say that super Metroid is the hardest 2d game to run, if not for anything just because of how competitive it is on top everything else.

Dude. That is the first time I've seen that baby skip strat. Freaking sick!

It's also one of the most difficult, and by far the highest pressure trick in the game. If you're on PB or WR pace, your run dies there if you miss it, and it's right at the end of the game, so you know for certain your run depends on it. Plus even for the true elites, it's not automatic. Pulling that off under pressure like in a GDQ is no joke.
I have also always thought those were intentional Chrono Trigger Ocean Palace Scout monster references!

I missed a GDQ apparently so I'm glad this was uploaded!

11min in fanfares! So how much time for elevators and screen transitions?
@edu20764 жыл бұрын
Based on this run, since we have roughly 46min in-game time (IGT) and 77min real time, subtract that and you get ~31min of IGT not rolling. 11 of those 31 come from the fanfares, so the remaining 20 come from all the lag frames, menus, but over 85% of it are from transitions.
