Super Metroid - Ridley Fight

What I love of Ridley battles, mainly this one is that feeling of equal battle, whatever Ridley does hurts you and whatever you do hurts Ridley, he has inmunity in his tail, but you have defence with screw attack, you both move fast around and there are not any short cut or slow patern, you have to shoot all you got till the end.

In addition to that, in Super Metroid, almost every other boss has some other weak point or gimmick that you have to work around in order to win. Except for this fight (and both the Torizo). This battle has no gimmicks, no tricks, no complications of any kind. It's simply a no-holds-barred, all-out ruthless clash between the two bitter rivals, each side desperately attacking with everything they have in the hopes of getting their foe to explode before they do. It's very different from the other bosses, it fits Ridley perfectly, and it's one of the best moments in an already great game.

I think what makes it even more epic is that during their previous encounter, Samus was no match for him and nearly got killed. Now that she’s able to equal him in battle, and finally has a chance to settle the score, it makes it that much more intense. That droning effect you hear after his demise goes perfectly with the feeling of getting payback.

As someone who cares about visual storytelling(probably as a result of this game), the broken container in the upgrade room after the fight with Ridley represents a pretty chilling twist in the story.

@@CLfreak246 Holy shit. Is everyone revisiting this gem at the same time? I got a decent way through it when I was younger, but I have been having a blast going through the game lately. I actually stopped in to see the best strategy to face off against this very formidable foe. So glad to see that the game is alive and well. I also just gotta add, this visual storytelling is off the wall. Almost literally when you are taught how to wall jump by those little green fellers.

@CoolXer0 Yep, that's a tank so you can fill up your energy easily after the big fight. Those things you're talking about are what I've come to call ninja pirates. You want to get kinda near one, then get about half a screen away and stand there, charging your beam. The one you were near should jump in the air and spin a little, then try and drive a kick into you. When he gets in the air, run behind him and under his jump. When he lands andchanges colors. Nail him. Repeat for destruction.

Good stuff. I'm trying to beat this boss with the minimal equipment. So I only have 99 health and 5 of each type of weapon. So far, I don't think I've come close but maybe with these tips, I can do better.

John Taxpayer I had the maximum that I could get...which I think was like 10-12 tanks. I made sure to find as much energy as possible since I was playing on a phone, which made it a bit more difficult in some of the tougher fights

@@elliottw4948 damn, i only got the tanks purely by luck. I just beat the game today on 3ds. Not sure if super is better than fusion. Sure, the game is less linear than fusion, but fusion has the better control scheme.

@John Taxpayer I’m a Super Metroid elitist myself, but fusion is fine. Dislike the controls, but understand why they decreased the overall player freedom. Super Metroid is best.

Whenever I hear Anguirus' roar in this game, the first thing that comes to mind is the statues making that sound when someone wins on Fei Long's stage in Super Street Fighter II. And by the way, the statues moving freaks...me...out. :O

Giancarlo Peñalba Literally just fought this Ridley in my first playthrough of this great game, and I went in with around 6 tanks, although I had 4 i reserve. If I were full hp I’d have another 4-5 tanks. Even then this was pretty tough. He hits hard and takes so many missiles to kill. Can’t imagine this with 6 tanks.

Honestly I found Ridley fight pretty easy on my first ever play through. I had farmed and collected so many items to the point where I brought all but one energy tanks 180 missiles and 45 super missiles to the fight. Almost felt unfair just spamming him up with super missiles and then nonstop missiles just spraying everywhere. No discretion or skill really involved, he never stood a chance 😂

I liked the sprite of ridley. But fight with him was kinda boring, like his attacks are okay except that tail drop thing. It doesnt adds diffculty in battle, it just wastes my time. His defense must be so high. Seriously i had to use my 110 missles and 18 Super missle. Battle music is cool though. About his offense, there were bosses that had stronger offense before that battle.

Ridley has 50 super missiles of health: roughly 250 missiles or 75 charge shots. The tail swipe is meant to be a quick, mid-ranged move. It’ll add difficulty if you fight Ridley how most do, as it discourages camping.

You shouldn't focus on speed or not getting hit. That's the problem with youtube boss fight videos. People want to show, "My badass uberness". What people want to see is an entertaining boss fight. When my friends would come over to watch me play, they already knew that if I so chose, I could take a boss down in seconds, and that I was merely playing with them. What they liked was that I gave the creature a fighting chance, and made it look like a real battle. That is true skill my friend.
