This is my most favorite game when I was little. I wish they have this in the Super Nintendo software in the Nintendo Switch.

This being one of the earlier SNES games really showed off how great the soundchip for SNES was. I could totally see myself finding the chipset of this soundtrack and just listening to it.

People don't understand why the silver truck has such an advantage starting out. It's because it is Mickey Thompson in the sliver truck you're up against. The game was dedicated to him after his death on March 16, 1988. He was a beast on the off road circuit before he pursued a business in manufacturing wheels an tires

lol, my friends and I would team up against the silver/white car. One of us would be stationed at the finish line, facing the other direction. Upon colliding with the silver/white car head on, we unleashed all the nitro that had been saved up. Also, we always cracked up when one of us got the "Wipeout" screen. Good times.

One of the things I liked most about this game, other that the fact it was simple and fun, was the music. What a gem of the 90s!

OMG, I actually remember playing OFF-ROAD!! Except the one I had on SNES was different, the trucks weren't one color, and the camera wasn't top-down. It was behind the truck, and trucks I remember were either red with white, yellow with white, or blue with white...

Found this as a lovely little family run thrift shop, got this, robocop versus terminator, total carnage, and super mario kart for 5 bucks bundled together. Apparently some guy came in with an snes with the games but the snes was in horrible condition and didnt work, so they couldnt test them and were having trouble selling the games since retro games arent big where i live. Best deal ever, been playing the shit outta all of em and they worked just fine.

In the NES and arcade versions when you are in the parts shop the bit that says "start next race" is written above a map of the next round's track. This version shows the same track map every time.

God what a tight game, brings me back to my childhood and playing this with my bro. I looked up Super Off Road cause I think it's this game that goes "SPIN-OUT!" and when I watch car crash vids and some idiot is speeding in snow or has bad tires on the freeway and spins out I think of that sound effect. Edit: maybe it isn't this game, I don't see where the truck would spin out. Hmm not sure now

I looked up rock n roll racing and it looks similar to the game I remember playing when I was a kid too. But I remember the intro splash screen was a car or truck with an explosion in the background. You could customize and everything about the cars looks exactly the same as I remember. The music wasn't the same tho. Maybe I was playing a bootleg but I remember it being really fun. Edit: the customization screen was definitely different. Edit 2: I just found it. It was called RPM racing. Maybe it was cuz I was 6 or 5 but I don't remember the cars moving that slow 😂. Thankfully with emulation it's now possible to overclock the original hardware cuz I don't think it's playable in it's original state any more 😂

What pisses me off is that the Silver Truck always had 15-30 more nitros than everyone else at the start of each race.... ....he'd just spam the sh!t out of them until he hit the finish line....:(

I remember as a little kid playing this game and raging non-stop because of that damn silver truck. I always wondered why I could never beat him, then I eventually learned it was because I was never using nitrous (didn't know what it was at first). Once I figured that out and realized I had practically infinite money because I was never spending any I was maxed out on nitrous and then I never lost, lol
