Terrific series. Grew up playing Mean Bean Machine so goddamn much it wasn't funny. Despite these games being virtually the same other than minor difficulty tweaks (though Kirby's Avalanche is easily the easiest one) I was surprised and pleased when I found out about these games. It's only too bad that we never got an English release of these games, as the characters are really cute and different from the other two copies.

The sprites are fine, yes they aren't in the right area of the board, but it is just as detailed as the arcade and Genesis version's. Man where do people get this from, I can agree about the resolution being smaller, but for goodness sake, there's no difference in sprite detail. The only thing Compile/Banpresto changed was her facial expression, nothing drastic enough to nitpick about (she no longer smiles once you battle her). For goodness sake, just enjoy the different versions, no need to nitpick. Gamers today aren't lucky to have differences in similar games between consoles like we did back in the day.

The only thing preventing you from playing a SFC in an SNES is two little tabs located in the cart slot. Clips those tabs out, and you can easily play imports. There's the Game Genie method where you can use it's cart slot as a passthrough, but that won't work for special chip games due to the extra slots at the bottom of the cart where the chips stick out that the Game Genie has no slots for.

CrasherX 2000 Mostly. There's a hidden special menu that gives you more options than the other versions provide, unlocked by holding A, B, Y, and X on the second controller when turning the game on. One of the more notable features is a level select, so you don't have to start all over if you need to quit for whatever reason.

In the Sega universe those goo globs are called "beans", in the Nintendo universe they call them "avalanches" or "ghosts". Why they didn't call those slimes just "puyo" as in the original game? It's a japanese onomatopoeia.

Actually, it was a decission taken by Compile, to take the names of one of the most known franchise of the console to publish it outside of Japan, it was chosen Sonic in the Genesis, and Kirby in the Snes. It was a stupid idea tho, since because of that, most people don't know shit about Puyo Puyo unless they are fans of it.

Not exactly, it was reskinned and released in the west as Kirby's Avalanche on SNES, and Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine on the Genesis. Both reskins IMO lost a ton of their charm without their original characters in them.

Well lets see, the arcade version is running on beefed up Genesis hardware, so of course the Genesis version could sound like the arcade version. The music on the SFC version isn't bad as the SFC doesn't use FM Synthesis. Once you start owning different versions of the same game, you start appreciating the music for all of them.

Genesis used a chip similar to the arcade (FM Synthesis), SNES used PCM sound, and sound samples. Overall, this version sounds pretty good on it's own. SFC version shown here has more sound samples, Arle has all her chain quotes, something the MD version fell a little short on. For some reason 1 or 2 of her voice samples were removed from the MD port. PP Tsuu made up for it, with all versions that had speech having all voice samples in them (Game Gear , Neo Geo Pocket, and Gameboy were the exceptions having no voice samples).

Music sounds fine, the two 16 bit consoles had vastly different sound capabilities, unlike today's boring vanilla consoles all sounding the exat same. The music in this version is more fulfilling due to having more instrumentation in each song. Get your ears checked. If anything the MD's FM Synth capabilities were weak, especially when paired against the arcade, the PC 98, PC 88, and Sharp X68000, they all school the Genesis on how to do proper and pleasant FM Synth.

Kirby and Robotnik were reskins of the game for western audiences because the the ones who ported Puyo Puyo here figured Americans and other countries would not take too well with the Puyo characters. So they went with characters familiar to western audiences. Puyo Puyo came originally from Madou Monogatari, a dungeon crawler with characters later used in Puyo Puyo. It involved Arle trying to pass magic school by ascending a tower to defeat Satan, the main bad guy in this game. Madou would spawn a few more games, some RPG's, and of course, the Puyo Puyo series we still see today.

No, MBM is a re-skin of this game, research next time. No one is suing anyone because Compile and Sega worked together on this game. In arcades this game was released on Sega's System C2 board by Compile. As I said to a previous post of yours, you are quite wrong. Puyo Puyo came first, MBM came after.
