I love your way of positively encouraging people to just try quilting! This is something that anyone could accomplish in a short period of time. What a great gift it would make. With just a border added, it would be a great nursing home quilt. I had a friend who had never quilted and I mentored her in making a brick quilt out of flannels for her husband for Christmas. It is his all-time favorite thing and it was one of the simplest quilts I’ve ever seen. In order to pass on the skill, people have to think they’re capable of doing it. Congratulations to you for giving them that empowerment!

I love the look of the quilt and how easy it looks. Warm and cosy colours. I like that you put a pile of fabric on the one side of the sewing machine and the other pile on the other side and bring them together to sew. A great idea. Thank you.

Some post-it notes or even mailing labels can also help order the piles. Younger family members sometimes try to “help” me and some written reminders can be very helpful. Love the plaid fabric and colours. Great for autumn.

The folded-in-half piece before the first square is called a header. It you use another at the end, that's a ender or footer. The advantage of using a header is that there is a tension on the top and bottom threads before the first stitch on your pieces (so they aren't "eaten" as you suggested, especially triangle points), and because the header is two thicknesses, just like the pieces you're joining, the foot doesn't have to "climb" from the plate up to the fabric, which can cause problems as well.

Hi, Pam. Sometimes I like to speed up or slow down a video, and you can too, like this, it's easy! Go to the little "cog" icon on the bottom of the video and click on it. A little drop-down menu will show up and you can slow down the tutorial. It slows her voice down as well, but it's very helpful to slow it down or speed it up as needed. Also, if you click on the video itself, you can pause it and click on it again to play it again. One other thing I find helpful when I want to re-watch the last five or ten seconds that I just watched, is, on your computer keyboard, tap on the forward or backward arrow keys to rewind five or ten seconds. Pressing the arrow key more than once makes it go back just a little bit more. I hope this helps. Have a blessed day!

Hi Leslie. You are using American size Fat 1/'4s so you need to adjust the size of your squares so that you can get four out of each piece - the project gets pieced the same way but will be slightly smaller using 9" squares.

Hello, that quilt is a pretty straightforward strip-pieced block to sew that gives amazing results, it is called Chop Suey. You can set blocks traditionally and separated them by sashing. Also, you can just sewn together to create one large quilt top. Or as Valerie did, you can set the blocks on point, which she separated with sashing, cornerstones and setting triangles, so perhaps a setting that requires a little bit more expertise. She explained the cutting, figure out the largest size you can get out of your smallest fat quarter. (which is generally a 9 inch square) and cut 4 squares that size, from each fat quarter.

Unless you sell quilts for a living...for me this is the exact opposite of why I hand quilt. I do it to enjoy the moment. To slow down the the pace of life etc. So I'll just keep stitching entire quilt by hand...do less and... for me... enjoy it more.

@@generalcomments1239 Sometimes, people make quilts and other things for people who are less fortunate, to help those in need. Like someone else said, this is a nice project for making donation quilts for the homeless or for families who have lost everything in a disaster. If you have never participated in relief efforts, the smile on an affected person's face when they receive something that someone made with love is priceless. How would YOU feel if your home has been destroyed by a wildfire, a hurricane or a tornado and you received one of these simple quilts... versus a Mylar emergency blanket or wool surplus Army blanket? So perhaps these simple quilts aren't fancy and elaborate... but a person took time anyway to give of themselves. It's the same as the quick and simple crochet beanies that people make for orphanages and low income families and nurseries. They will keep someone warm, they will protect a baby, and they were made by someone who cares enough to do it to help many who need the help. So why? Because some things are worth more than being fancy... and it's not always about "you".

hmm,just 1 side of the quilt u made in 13 minutes, is not a full finished quilt ,also 1 of the dark brown squares is not matched up.ty .but love the colors ur way of stitching
