I finally found this game, this is the first game I ever played as a kid. I remember we had an old CRT TV and SNES with only one cartridge and it was this game. In my memory I believe i've played hours of this and not going anywhere, not being able to understand what to do and how to pass the levels. The graphics were, again, in my mind, out of this world, it worked my imagination and really put me in space while playing it. These graphics were state of the art, I vividly remember dreaming about this game and dreaming and fantasizing about space because of this game. Bare in mind i was maybe 5 or 6 years old at the time. I can't even imagine what goes trough a childs head now, in 2024, with all this super technology and high definiton games and media around them. I think i've never beaten this game on my own. My dad would also take turns and play it and it seemd like he was the best gamer there is. Only now i see that this game is no longer than an hour of gameplay but I remember us playing it for a few years, simpler times I guess. This game brings up so many memories from my young days in the 90's.

Saludos

Looking on this game after so many years i just cant not see how much bullshit it is. Most of stuff happening on screen simply have no meaning. No logic in level and generally poor design hidden under some "fancy looks" and "interesting mechanics". Like that Level 4 where you kind of fight Red Ships. Is it supposed to be armada or something? Its designed so poorly you cant even tell its on ship or many. Most bosses is poor mess. Bizarre combination of flesh and metal, but stupid and pointless. Music, apart of several levels (mostly in beginning) is very dull and boring. Gameplay is ridden with slowdowns and glitchy sprites. Game like UN Squadron is WAY better.
@Bloodreign14 жыл бұрын
Basically you are fighting an evolving organism that man created as a weapon, and tried to send into a wormhole to forget about as it was a mistake mankind created, a mistake that was coming back to bite him in the end. The series is grim, a lot of the themes of stages in each game reflect that. Nothing pointless about it, and one of the better stories told in a shmup game genre. The level 4 ships are part of a Bydo armada, I find the game makes that perfectly clear, as this level in R-Type 2, the ships are metallic grey, instead of red.
@eightcoins440110 ай бұрын
The og arcade level was a fleet, but it wasnt possible on the SNES. The snes version has a weird not that good remake of the giant ship level from R-Type I. Keep in mind Super R-Type is a REALLY botched port of R-Type II with lots of changes. It came out way too early in the SNES life cycle looking at how III runs way better. It used to be the worst regarded title in the whole Franchise before Final II. The real crime is the first level. Its a boring slog and you only get the force right before the boss.
