I'm 64, a mates dad was a salesman for Smiths at Port Adelaide through the 70's and 80's. He used to bring these home, and I remember being picked up for school in one of these beasts.. I think they all had hubcaps back then, no special wheels.. I'd like to think the owner has access to the original wheels and hubcaps.. Nice machine 👍

Yep they had steel wheels and hubcaps. I was a teenager in Melbourne when neighbour brought a silver GTS 327 home. I fucking loved it. HK I guess

Nice. Back in their day the 307 was usually bolted to the Powerglide, the saginaw wasn't so popular. Esy to pick an original as they has the special hump in the passenger's side floor pan for the shifter. We lived in Brisbane in the early 70s and these things were in repo yards in large numbers.

A friend of mine had one of these back in the early 80's. exactly the same colour and interior and engine, but his had the Powerglide auto instead. was in near mint condition, and he babied it. unfortunately, one day somebody ran a stop sign, hit him and the car was a write off. sad, because it was so original and so well looked after.

So many have had a similar fate, that's why I do what I do to bring them back

Please get it right,, HKs started to be assembled in 67, pre release models. And they were made until early 69 when replaced by HT. 327s were made in series 1 and 2. S2 had the alternator on the right head instead of like this car. About 1600 cars,,,, of which 2000 remain!! 307 HK& HT all used the same engine with the alternator as so. HK 5 litre 4 speeds were probably rarer, though I have had 4 of them, all in the late 70s. Gold/beige, Blue/ black x2 and silver mink. black. And a warwick yelloe 5 litre auto [the best car of the lot] and a blue auto. Plus several Prems, Broughams. 307 HTs were not uncommon early before the Holden V8s came on line. I have seen one 307 4spd HT. I suspect very rare. Modern Motor had a special order 5 litre 4 speed HK Prem wagon built. There has been a few HKs 'upgraded' with 4 speeds early on. There is several ways to pick them however As for racing, ever only HK327 S1, 350 HTs and a few HG350s. Someone did enter a 307 Kingswood auto, several of these were also rallied. And ofcourse Harrys HT 350 London to Sydney cars as well at least one for local events. While I guess that you could have had a dual exhaust fitted to a 307 HK they were all single exhaust factory. Only the 327 had dual exhaust with the 'cackle box' muffler under the boot floor with the 4 droopy extensions.. Every one I have owned though were fitted with aftermarket dual exhaust

Manual Saginaw 307s were a pretty car, seemed to be mostly powerglide.

So are all these classic,s being reprayed in the original acrylic or are they 2 pak? just curious as they're not original if done in 2 pak
@simonTorana05 Жыл бұрын
So many Torana’s in the background. When I left Aus in 1989 I gave my LJ behind. If only I’d kept it somewhere. Wasn’t original. Had a Celica 5 speed & a one tonner clutch but hey

Sooo many regrets, wish I’d kept half of them, I could retire… who am I kidding, I’d still be doing this!
