I've came to the realization that it's OK to ditch friends that are good to you if the're shady to almost everyone else. No need to get caught up in that gang mentality. Sure they may be nice to you, but you're giving your soul in return. I had a few friends like that who I had to ditch cause they were really racist amount other things. And looking back on it, I actually did a lot more for them than they did for me, so I didn't really even have any depts when I ditched them.

I'm a meek pushover and according to this a great friend, but recently my BFF since we were little told me that I was an ass and that she couldn't stand my shit. Last year she told me that I didn't have true depression, every time we talk she has no interest in what I have to say but expects me to be hanging off her every word, she always makes me feel horrible about my weight, is rude about my religion, and honestly I'm afraid of her and do and say stuff I regret to impress her. I'm always there to give advice and comfort her, but I can never receive the same from her. In fact no one even knows how badly I'm suffering. I know that she suffers with depression and may be a bit bipolar so I've put up with it and stayed with her through it all. But then she blows up at me because I corrected her grammar and told her that I didn't want to meet her boyfriend. (In my defense she has had 7 boyfriends in the past 6 months, and I live 3 hours away and don't want to spend my rare time in my hometown with some pre-pubescent misogynistic jerk). I have been cast aside again and again and again when she finds new people to hang with and have always been there when they inevitably come to hate each other. And then when I try to make a friend in my new town after 2 years of being completely alone she gets all rabid and jealous. I love her to death, I really do, but it's been years of tiptoeing around her and I'm just so sick of it. I should delete this and just relish how good it felt to type it all out because I don't want to talk behind her back. It doesn't seem right and I try to be a good person. But at the same time I just want someone to know. But then again this is the comments section on KZbin. Seems a pretty desperate place to write a journal entry. Guess if someone sees this you'll know what I decided.

That doesn't sound like a true friend to me. Obviously she has her own problems and you have your own problems, but if her own security is threatening your own, forget it. You need to have a sense of self-preservation. You are worth so much more than what she tells you that you're worth. This is going to sound selfish: You should stop being friends with her because of how it's affecting you. Now, examine that. It's okay to be friends with someone because you want to help them out--but if they're being a rotten friend and threatening your own self esteem, how much is it worth putting on the line for them? YOU matter too, you know, and they need to understand that.

I feel sorry that you are facing these hardships... And don't feel bad about posting this as a comment on KZbin. You needed to let these words out somehow. It's difficult to let go when you really like your friend, but in that case, it appears to be the best thing to do. She needs to mature, and you need to love yourself, and for that, you should part. As long as you are here for her to rely on too much, she will stay immature and won't realize that she's treating you wrong. And won't change. I think she needs to be alone to self-reflect. On the other side, how can you feel better about yourself when someone you love keeps on being cruel with you? This will turn you insane. I wish you could meet the nicest people! But as long as you are here for her every need, you won't be able to grow personally. I don't say it's going to be easy. I've been there, having shitty friends, and letting go of my best friend was painful. But sometimes, you need to think about you first, and realize you can't keep on being treated badly. I keep on meeting people, being the best friend I can, being betrayed or not cared about, so I learned not to get attached too easily. That also has flaws since people can sense that I'm not that involved when they first meet me, and it's more difficult to make new friends, but I try to protect myself. I tell you that so you don't go to this extent. You've got to keep on believing in people's goodness. But here, I think that the only way to improve both you you AND your relationship is to let go. And maybe, maybe when you feel better about yourself, try to contact her again, to see if she has changed or not. If she hasn't, your gaze will have changed anyway and you won't want to see her again. If she has, then it would be amazing and your relationship would only get better. Have faith in yourself. Have courage. You are worth so much better. I wish you the best, truly.

I get that she may suffer from depression, and she may even be bipolar, but neither of these are an excuse for complete bitchery. Stay friends if that is REALLY what you feel you must do, but if you do, my advice is to assert yourself a little more. Would you consider losing 'Friend points' if you are the person who is fun to hang with, but rarely goes out. I'm the person who flat out rejects the idea of going out because I am legitimately busy. (None of that "Yeah, I'll be there!" *Day before party* "Can't make it, something came up". You shouldn't raise someones hopes, when you know you aren't going to make it.) When I am available, I sure in the hell make sure to be there, on time, having as much fun with them as possible. But that only happens every so often... I pay everything back. I show up WHEN I say I can show up. Gossiping seems to be a really tiresome activity that others seem to enjoy. I am the person people go if they need to talk about something really personal. (Consequently, I'm also the person people go to when they want to find dirt on someone else. I HAVEN'T, ONCE, IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!! TOLD A SECRET!!! NOT ONCE!!!PROUD!!!) Never been in a relationship! (I'm too busy. I wouldn't give my significant other enough attention, which is why I won't peruse anything into romance.) I do, however, find myself guilty of trying to make other people laugh, and it ends up with me talking...so...I do talk a lot....Which may or may not be obvious from the giant comment.... (Might, lose some points)...but I do make my buddies laugh so..*Shrugs* I've been told that I am a terrible friend because I don't even try to spend time with them... "My priorities are messed up." Oddly, I'm actually a super cool friend. The problem is that I learned when I was young that "Friendship" or "loyalty" means different things to different people and I end up being friends with a lot of people who don't treat me the same as I do them. That said I tend to piss a lot of people off because I give people honesty when they want delusion. What the hell kind of friend would I be if I weren't there to help them grow as people? The only thing I got hit on was being late, I have dyscalculia AND I'm Hispanic. Also I only say things behind people's back that I say to their faces. "Oh shit man... I'm totally calling Tommy and telling him that you said XYZ." My response? "Here, use my phone. He knows."

Only -10, that’s because I occasionally talk behind someone’s back. Once in every blue moon though. Yay guess I’m doing pretty good. I also try not to be late and if I am late it’s cuz my mom wasn’t done on time (I can’t drive), my brother throws a tantrum, or my friend came to pick me up too early. I usually get there 30 minutes to an hour early and just walk around by myself till it’s time to meet up.

When I was in elementary school all I ever had was bad friends. Now my elementary school was k-5th grade. I remember looking back and seeing how horrible they were. Most of my friends but 1 would ignore me. One of my friends would ignore me until I became useful. I literally had horrible friends during elementary school and didn’t even realize so did.

I have a major problem with my friendships and positive relationships, actually it's just with people in general. When I meet someone and know I'll be with them for at least the next five minutes I immediately try to do anything to make them laugh, smile or just be more happy then before they met me The reason this is a problem is because I'll go as far as to create an alias just to be friends with them. That doesn't mean that I don't like anything that they like, I do go very far to try and make them trust and like me as much as possible, but I will definitely give a "Half-Truth" to them if necessary. I also try to make them see things the way I see them. I consider this an okay trait, but it might be pretty bad in some situations.
