You're on level 3 charger! With 480 volts DC charger, you can quickly charge the electric car for half an hour.

Great video, thank you. Fun Fact: we leased a 2013 Nissan Leaf for three years and loved it. We only used the Level 1 charger at home. We started out charging every second of every day, when we first got the car, if the car was home, it was plugged in. That lasted maybe 6 months then we found out we can contact our electrical company and have them put us on a special EV Plan and if we promise to charge only after 8 PM we would pay less for electricity so then we started only charging at night 8pm - 8am, that lasted maybe a year, then we realized we can get by, by only charging every other day, so we did that, I share this with you because the car only had an 84 mile range and we finished the 3 year lease by only charging maybe 3 days a week, yes still only on Level 1 charger, so before you run out there and hire an electrician to install an expensive Level 2 thingie in your garage, give the Level 1 charging a chase, it is better for the battery pack to trickle charge than fast charge anyway, and please check out my EV conversion if you're bored ...

Thanks for the level break down. That helps me a lot. Now I need to figure out how many solar panels and batteries I need for level 1 home charging.

Go for Level 2 if you have the room in your panel! It is so much easier. Thanks for watching!

So say you only drove 13 miles one day and you want to top off your charge at the end of the day. If you charge with level 1 charger compared to level 2 charger will it cost more in your electricity bill because it will be plugged in for a longer amount of time than with a level 2 charger?
@pluginreport73042 жыл бұрын
electricity providers usually charge on a kilowatt hour (kwh) basis. LIke $0.20 kwh So they charge for how much electricity you use, not how long you charge. Level 1 or Level 2, you will pay the same amount for the electricity. If you charge during peak hours, some providers charge more $ per kwh but you can choose when to charge. Level 2 could be cheaper as you can finish charging before peak hours.

hey, i have a question? im thinking about reserving Nissan Ariya that suppose to come out later this year, and i have a RV outlet on the side of my house that is a 30 amp TT-30 . what ev charger would you recommended ?

I use the Lectron 240 volt charger. It is very well priced and hasn't done me wrong. I am planning on doing a review video but there are three out there already, so take a look. It is simple to use. Make sure you have the right NEMA outlet, you can pick between 2 types of NEMA outlets at purchase.

I purchased a level 2 charger but found out it was only about 20 minutes faster compare to my level 1. Is there a reason why??
@pluginreport7304 Жыл бұрын
thanks for the question. Ask your electrician why you aren't seeing a major difference. Perhaps it is 240 volts but not enough amps. Some level 2 chargers show the amps that it is getting. 27 - 32 amps is typically the minimum breaker that is installed.

Lucky you if you have 240 volt as standard power. You're ready for level 2 charging. Make sure you have the correct connector or plug when you order your Level 2 charger.

That its no called Level 3. Only exist DC Level 1 and Level 2 - Level 3 wasn’t inplemented. No such a thing that L3 Proposed L3 Charging Methods 1996 Level 3 - Up to 240 kW DC "Capable of replenishing more than half of the capacity of an EV battery in as few as 10 minutes" 2001 Level 3 - Up to 96 kW AC 2010 - today Level 3 - Dropped "Note: AC Level 3 charging has never been implemented." Level 3 charging information is considered historical only.
