I made a super sized saw horse to speed up cutting firewood as I was finding using a PTO driven blade too slow and regular saw horses too small. I used mainly old scrap I had laying around along with a few fixings to hold it all together. It makes the whole process so much faster and less laborious!
Fills your truck in no time...wish I had done it sooner!!

I figured it was going to be a buzz saw. Great job.

Just sling it all in the cradle and away you go. So much faster than a regular horse and more efficient than my cradled PTO rig. 👍

Had to have a chuckle at the wood pinging off caption. For actual cutting time your rack might be faster but from beginning to end I reckon my method of using a metal cutting drop saw with a 12" TCT wood blade would come pretty close to matching the speed. Having to stack the rack and then empty it before starting again would slow the process down a bit I'm guessing. I've had a few similar incidents where the chainsaw has grabbed light logs. Angling the saw to the tip is up at about 45 degree might help.

Yes all good advice 👍. If I had a Telehandler I could dump it out more easily. The Oxdale saw bench was too slow. You can rack it fairly swiftly. There’s always a down side which would be the picking it all up!. Carefully lifting out the stacks is the best way. 👍

First vertical with a 4 way I’ve seen nice . We run a vertical also but it’s home made

Thanks! I had it made especially to fit the digger. It’s far more versatile to be able to manoeuvre it around on a pile. The splitting head is interchangeable, I do have a traditional head however haven’t used it much.

Cool Video!! I do it the same way. I had welded a similar cutting frame for 1 m3 wood. On the bottom, I added in the middle of each wood cutting segment two rails instead on. Like that chopped wood can lay more stabilized and it don’t falls so easy on the ground. And yes, after enough painful hits on my knuckles 😄😄 I use for each cutting segment one ratchet strap. This method is for me personally and especially if you do the work alone the easiest and fastest way to do this job. It takes me less than 20 minutes to load the rack (1m3 wood), cut it and put it on my trailer. Nice Greetings from Bavaria 😊👍🏻🍻 Alex

Hi Alex, thanks for the comment and tip, Great minds thinks alike! 😉 It really is a massive time saver and a good use of the scrap I had laying around. A strap for lone working is definitely a good idea. Happy chopping, stay safe 👍

Just intrigued, wasteful? Of what?

@@bluesix2843, I agree, wasteful of what. Most of that size wood gets burned in a brush pile, or mulched. You are getting a lot of BTU'S that most throw away.

@@haroldphipps3457All the really tiny stuff gets used on a mini log boiler in the house. The rest goes through a 25kw Windhager biomass log gasification boiler. I even compost the sawdust for landfill in the paddocks. Zero waste 👍
