Honestly, the fact that it looks like a somewhat less polished Smash Brothers clone is completely non-indicative of what the gameplay is like. If they made the UI more stylish, gave the non-Parappa characters a 5% less plastic-y art style, made the AP that you have to grab to build your meter look more iconic (*), and added some more characters with flashier character designs, they could have made more people stay with it long enough to realize how good it was. (*)I dunno, maybe replace the generic balls of coruscating lightning with some sort of derezzing polygons or something, to make it look like you're beating the 3D out of them, and foreshadow the final boss and the mysterious power that this game is centered around, or something like that.

Yeah, honestly the review he gave made it feel like he just wanted a really awful smash game on the list so he made it worse than it actually is. But, I gotta admit the game doesn't look right on PS3 and Xbox. I also noticed the sound is totally different from the Wii version and 10x more annoying/unnatural on PS3/Xbox. You can tell me it's bad, but no way is it worse than Kung Fu Panda Smash.

Dart was actually going to be the next DLC character for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and was really deep in development when Sony announced they were ditching support for the game. They also tried really hard to get Crash and Spyro but unfortunately, Activison refused to play ball. In case anyone’s curious, the other characters that were in development when Sony pulled the plug were Tombi, Abe from Oddworld, and Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden. Dart was the furthest along, though, and was pretty much done. A developer even leaked his character model, so you can see it if you want to.

I think before Smash Bros release, there was a game that actually far surpassed it but greatly underrated. It was Panzer Bandit (1997). The game was a beat-them-up game with a, surprised surprised, fully implemented of fighting mechanic. High, low guards, double jump, jump cancel, super jump, Clash (This is the most dynamic Clash system you ever saw on an action game.), dash, alpha counter and super. If you know Guardian of heroes then Panzer Bandit was the spiritual successor of that game but more fighting game mechanic than RPG. The game was a beat them up but then the Vs Mode shined as well. You can do 1-on-1, 4 player battle royale or team battle. You started with the initial 4 character but if you beat the story mode on Normal you will unlock the bosses (8 other characters).

PSA:BR and TMNT: Smash Up were utter trash... PSA has the deadest gameplay I've ever felt in a videogame. It feels like nothing is happening. TMNT: Smash Up on the other hand has so much lag on every move that I legitimately thought my controller was broken for a bit. With PSA I can say "Well, it's his opinion..." but TMNT's controls are actually broken.

I hate how this guy abuses terms like rip-off and clone. This guy really needs to learn knowledge is accumulated and nothing is entirely original just rearranged. Some things are so similar yes you can call them clones but 90% of the time it's unjustified. Are you telling me I can't find anything that smash does that hasn't been done before using the same kind of vague, arbitrary observations?

Arcadea As long as you are aware that your criteria (the rules by which you can objectively evaluate) is created in a subjective manner (the points of comparison were selected arbitrarily) You have the answers but how meaningful are the questions? I guess, in my opinion, I dislike the language you choose. I feel it undermines a lot of legitimate work and I dislike it when people write off games unfairly - and by contrast put other games, as good as they may be, on pedestals that no game really deserves. It may not be your intention to do this, you may be during this for entertainment and not mean for your work to have much merit. But my point remains that I dislike the language you use, which is misleading and ultimately unfair.

dem big words dough... but in all seriousness i think your thinking a little to hard about this. yes a lot of games are similar and yes a lot of things have been done and its difficult to make something "completely" original, but its not like hes bashing them for being a "clone". its more like he just chooses games that seem to have inspiration from the game in question or have VERY similar traits. plus when he says "rip-offs" or "clones" i think its more satirical than factual on purpose (but still cmon, some games do copy others you cant deny that). also you dont need to act triggered man its just words to help state his opinion easier, like i said its not like he is saying he hates some of the games because its a "rip-off" or a "clone".

Nitro Blitz It's not satirical, it's lazy clickbait language. Look, my point was clone and especially rip-off has negative connotations, the inverse would be inspired by. If he wanted to convey the game in a positive light he would use the latter. By doing this he's also reinforcing the idea that certain popular titles we are all familiar with like smash bros is so special that it can be used as a measuring stick. In other words trying to apply an objective standard centered around popular games. This undermines a lot of other games which deserve to stand on their own and hurts gaming culture by keeping the same thing in the limelight and punishing anything new.

Ziggletooth i dont think that because a game is classified as a clone takes away from its popularity. take a look at freedom planet. that game is known as a sonic clone but stands alone as a good game. when he says a game is bad its not for the reason of being a clone like i said before, its because in his opinion the game alone is just not a good game. now i wont disagree fully with that when a game is labeled as a clone it may receive some negative feedback, but even so that is always gonna happen regardless of what people say and if someone sees an interesting idea and feels that they can make something out of it, its the creators job to make their idea stand out from others (which is a difficult task on its own)

The first Kung Fu Panda film is really worth watching if you like kung-fu films. It's one of the best tributes to that cinematic genre I've ever seen.
