Super Smash Bros Melee: Akaneia 0.9 - Sonic's Adventure Mode

I haven't played Melee properly in about 10 years, so this is probably going to be painful to watch. I did it anyway.
Played on my Gamecube via Swiss, recorded via the RetroTink5x. In hindsight disabling Melee's smoothing filter was not very smart, but oh well.

This makes me realize how far we've gone from the earliest Melee hoaxes and Brawl modding into having a fully playable Sonic in Melee as his own standard character with an original moveset and character select slot.

Original moveset is quite the stretch, but.. yeah, I guess it's cool that we have Sonic in melee at all.

@Eldoofus The Big Doofus true, dunno why they just copied and pasted his Ultimate moveset besides dash attack Think it woulda been cooler if he sorta played like in Smash 64 remix where he had Sonic flare as a down smash instead of that lame ass split

@@rubyrogers8879 I don't mind the split even though it's already in Fox and Falco, my biggest gripe is how inconsistent the "Emerald Dive" Forward Air feels to hit... multihits are SPECIALLY inconsistent in Melee of all games, so I don't know why they didn't choose the Axe Kick like every competent Smash mod to ever exist.

@Eldoofus The Big Doofus that is bad but maaaaan, Sonic Flare is so much cooler and more useful imo Strangely I do like his up smash in melee but yeah the axe kick woulda been better

Hahah I remember those wild methods of unlocking characters. Pressing x,y,z,l and r 5 times in 5 seconds in the title screen for Peppy or beating adventure mode with young link on very hard with 1 life in under 20 minutes for HorrorKid Ahh those were the days...

We've gone from melee themed brawl mods to an actual melee mod that has Sonic What a time to be alive EDIT: I cam imagine the unlock notice being something like, "It's a Dream come true! Sonic joins the melee!"

The animations for sonic look a little too smooth for Melee, it makes sense considering this is probably ripped animations from Brawl, but hopefully they can adjust it in the future. Great mod nonetheless
