Miyamoto in general doesn't seem to like ideas that aren't "original" enough, with Wolverine Publicity (adding in well-known characters for the purpose of maximizing profit) being one of them. Heck, his comment that the first build of _Paper Mario: Sticker Star_ felt too much like _The Thousand-Year Door_ is what motivated the game's producer to throw the game down the shitter despite there being much better directions for the game to have ultimately gone in (I do blame the producer for it, not Miyamoto, as the latter doesn't really have any authority over the spinoffs outside of the occasional suggestion). Even when he makes a sequel he tries to do *something* that makes it stand out, though it's typically limited to some brand-new powerup (I don't blame him for the whole _New Stagnant Mario Bros._ debacle either, as it's most likely a case of Nintendo's execs pushing for more sequels to make more money). Overall, this aversion towards sameness is admirable in concept, but oftentimes bothersome in execution.

We could do that already, actually, through mods. Just recreate Captain Falcon's first moveset and readjust the Captain Falcon moves like his specials and some of his attack moves so they're dissimilar to his final moveset (he has quite a few moves that were changed in Melee, but two of his smash attacks in the first game are very unique) and create some unique moves for Pepsi-Man.

When I was a kid in the 90's it was fairly common that people told each other unlockables or cheats that were totally made up. Since the internet wasn't as common as it is today you sometimes believed in it if your "friends" were convincing. In SUper Smash Bros for N64 a classmate told me that if you cleared Classic Mode on hardest difficulty with only one life without any continues you would unlock angry faces on all characters. Me and my best friend tried to do this for weeks, almost always failing when you're facing the Polygon Team. But once we succeeded we were happy as fuck, only to see that nothing happened afterwards. The next day in school when we met this kid who told us the lie we beat him up, and my parents got a call from our teacher about it later that day... Ah, how I miss the 90's!

All characters (other than Luigi) had their Character Select icon taken straight from other games art, with a few changes, for example, Mario is from M64 and Kirby, is sword Kirby art with the sword assets removed.

Did you know? Pit was also planned to be in the game, but was eventually scrapped, because the team had troubles programming his wings.
