Basically, if your unlocking characters via smash,they unlock in a certain order. If your unlocking characters via classic mode, I think there's a way for certain characters to unlock each other but idk if it's random. World of Light is probably the easiest way because you will run into them sooner or later.

Admin Prone VS Battles has a certain order while Classic Mode has a different order. If you finish your first VS Battle, you get Ness. If you finish Mario’s Classic Route (Let’s-a Go!) for the first time, you get Sonic. The order for getting World of Light depends on when you awakened the fighters. The first fighter you will unlock if you only use the Adventure Mode to unlock characters will either be Sheik, Marth, or Villager.

You have to keep doing the versus match thing until another character challenges you, depending on who it is if you're unlocking everyone via vs mode.

I think she did have Jigglypuff put Mewtwo to sleep, and Cresselia did an attack, and she dodged it, but Mewtwo got hit by it, making Cresselia the winner of the match, so Cresselia beat Mewtwo to unlock Mewtwo for her. Cresselia: I knew I could win. Jigglypuff: I did not know you were competing in the match. I think you should join our roster. Cresselia: I do have the skills. If Ridley, Bowser Jr., and Mewtwo are allowed, so am I. Ridley was not too big, Bowser Jr. Uses a ship to levitate above the ground, at least I do not use a ship, but I do levitate above the ground, and Mewtwo is legendary. Cresselia Joins The Battle!

Here's my review of getting the characters. I haven't got Joker yet, and I don't care about Piranha Plant. 40% I don't remember 20% With attacks (Lucas, Dark Pit, King Dedede, etc) 10% With Meta Knight's side special (Daisy, Robin, Corrin, etc) 9% Stage hazards (Meta Knight, Snake, etc) 2% They fell off the stage (Pit, Cloud, etc) The character that was hardest to get was Lucas, one of my mains from Brawl. It took me millions of attempts to get him, and FINALLY, during one attempt, Robin knocked him out with Arcfire. I was screaming and yelled, "I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH ROBIN!!!!" because Lucas is my boy.

Cool to see that the challenger animation has changed again. It has the same red color spotlight animation of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but with the revealing silhouette light animation of Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS, combined with the line animation from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U and the "Challenger Approaching" font is similar to Super Smash Bros. Melee. It's definitely like a blast from the past, and the fact of where everything that I said is just like what I said. Now of course, how to unlock all of them, besides Joker (since it's a DLC Fighter who can be purchased from the Nintendo Switch's Nintendo eShop)?

Here’s a praise that come the next Smash Bros. game that all Fighters of the Perfect Attendance Crew are Default Characters, and that it stays such for every installment onwards. I wonder how the decisions come around with whose a Default Fighter and whose Unlockable in each game, come Smash 4 Fighters we knew in the past as Unlockable Fighters (Luigi, Captain Falcon, Marth, Lucario, Toon Link and the TPCs) became Default Characters surprisingly enough, whilst Wario after debuting as a Default Fighter became an Unlockable one in that very game. Come future installments either way, things will probably be back to not official confirming Unlockable Fighters until the game’s release (except for those under a certain circumstance, TPCs had to be known of before Brawl’s release with no clues as to them being Unlockable (a trait that was not the same case with Smash 4), and Lucina had to be officially revealed before Smash 4’s release to confirm that Fully Cloned Fighters like herself would be in the game).

I am struggling, I'm not the greatest smash player out there, haven't played a smash game since the gamecube days and some of these characters are just too hard to beat, they'll keep combo'ing you while you can hardly get a hit on them, and if the character doesn't kill you then the stage will. now I'm not even sure if I'll be able get the full roster.

may I give some insight? in my analysis I found that if you look over each fighter and their skills you can then skillfully determine what fighter will be the hardest later on and simple fight them first then you will have gotten the hard to predict fighters out of the way and make more easier to fight the more predictable fighters cause you already know their move sets and how they fight from the previous games

I love how they made the original 8 starting characters from the N64 Super Smash Bros. as starting characters here and all the others unlockable. I just wish the criteria for unlocking them wasn't as basic as simply playing for 10 minutes... Fun fact: this is the only game in the series to have more unlockable characters than starting characters.
