Not sure if you covered it, but if you hold A after side tilt or neutral A, you can move the whip around with the left joystick. Also, it can cancel some projectiles.

I would like to note one thing that I notice everyone misses on the Simon/Richter guides: You can modify the range of his axe. If you press forward after hitting b, his axe will be thrown slightly farther out. Likewise, if you press back after hitting b, the axe will go a slightly shorter distance. This may not make a huge difference in gameplay, but it does help string together more combos, and also throws off your opponent if they aren't aware of this!

Very nice guide for people wanting to start with the Belmont’s. They are not easy to play. I think one thing that should’ve been mentioned though with the cross is that they catch the cross when grounded most of the time. You can actually cancel aerial landing lag if you hit the ground when the cross comes back to the Belmont’s and they’ll catch it to cancel the lag. Can be useful in some situations where you threw the cross, get knocked away, and have to get back down or converge on its return hit. I also think you should mention there is a small and large range for the Cross as well as the axe. Also as a extra; the Holy Water when placed at a certain area on the edge will slowly fall downwards which is great for gimping bad recoveries like Mario or Cloud.

Not sure if it's worth mentioning, but if Belmont gets knocked off stage pretty far out and up, and you don't think you have enough distance, you can air dodge towards the stage to get a bit of extra distance. Continue falling towards the stage for about 1 or 2 seconds after air dodge and you can use your whip again, which should get you the rest of the way to the stage. It's helped me out a few times.

Just saying, when it comes to smash attacks and specials, your back smash/special will be the same, so the community likes to just call it forward smash/special. It's odd to hear "back smash" at times. I can understand not wanting to use shortened terms for beginners (I.e. B-air, F-air, F-smash), but I think most beginners know that the term "back smash" isn't a real term. I think it's my first time hearing it, actually. Still good on the guides. No wrong info as far as I could tell and it was kept fairly simple. I think a lot of players, new and old, can still learn a thing or two from this video.

You neglected to mention that you can alter the axe and cross trajectories. With axe, just hold forward or backward and it will go farther or shorter than if you hadn't. Cross flies farther if thrown while standing still.

Good video, great Belmont 101, one thing you missed though is that once you start the neutral B (axe) you can hold left or right on the movement stick to make the axe travel further out or more closer in to you. I've never thought to try to use up or down with this, so I have no idea if height can be adjusted or not (will have to lab more later!) but you can definitely change the horizontal trajectory

For aerial attacks, the backwards input is different than the forwards. In Simon's case, including Richter, their b-air (short for backwards aerial) is pretty much the same. But on other character, b-air and f-air is always different.

Tip for those who may not know and have trouble with the axe. If you hit be to throw it you can move the left toward you to throw a shorter distance, or move it away from you to throw further. Only works when you ztill have it in your hand

theres also the holy water fire that can set up for a forward smash. since simons forward smash starts up kind of slow it would be a lot safer if you only use it when your opponents is stuck in the holy water fire. obviously you can use the holy water for a lot more set ups other than forward smash.

Was super happy upon hearing that Richter was playable. Had a lot of fun using Simon until I did his down B and he just pointed straight down to the until I did his down B and he just plummeted straight down to the ground. And yeah I can definitely feel his weaknesses but overall the Belmonts are a fantastic addition and because of that they are now in my sixth selection of characters I love to use now. Fantastic guide!

Is it possible to customize your controls to where the control stick cannot have smash and you can do tilts much more easily? I mean the C-stick is an auto smash and many pro players rely on that than the original way. I’m asking cuz I prefer to use my tilts more freely so I don’t accidentally throw out a smash.

I like playing Richter in Squad Smashes alongside my other mains Mario, Link and Ganon, however I gotta admit their recovery options is quite worse than Ganons, he mostly doesnt travel horizontally with Up B but his vertical moving is way better than the belmonts, making it useful to get beneath the stage and in case of a punish attempt there is a chance that the attempt fails to Ganon's Up B and launches the enemy away from you The Belmonts are to me mostly useful on Stage while Ganon is on Stage and off stage near the ledge useful

When you input a special while facing left, in this case, as soon as you press the special button quickly put the control stick in the opposite direction. This can be done with all specials it's called a b-reverse. I'd recommend looking up b-reverse tutorials from smash 4 for a better explanation
